3.2 V6 Problems?

Hi,

I've just bought a 99 320SL and was wondering if anyone knows of any common problems with the V6 engine? I've read plenty about the straight six and head gasket problems but cant find anything on the V6.

welcome - V6 yeah - it goes quite fast so could endanger your license sorry couldn't resist

The engine appears to be pretty bullet proof. Make sure you use synthetic oil otherwise they can sludge up if you have the extended service intervals. In the USA the harmonic balancer seems to be a common problem (never heard of one go in the UK), The only other thing is the MAS sensor seems to go occasionally (common to all MBs)

Thanks for the info! It has a fmbsh and seems to have been fed on a diet of Mobil1, so I'll make sure I continue with the tlc.
