How do I get into boot lid to change or check the high level third brake light cluster?

Remove the plastic fixings and the boot lid liner can be removed to access the 3rd brake light.
Although not for an SL, this video shows how to get to the light unit.

AMGeed, thanks I did see this and another a Youtube video for another model. It is very helpful but there is the added problem of some involvement of sliding roof parts and the trim fixing look rather tricky so was rather hoping for a bit more for this particular model! Dickie

When/if you get any instructions for the SL post back as i need to change mine but it looks like a pain in the a$$ on the R230 SL.

AMGeed, I will post if I get any more help. I am thinking it may become a bit more obvious if I lower the roof! Weather not great and cant get in the garage HaHa! Need it as the Mrs drives it mostly and panicking about whether legal or not!

PS I have seen available replacement light clusters on ebay.
pps went over speed bump today and light back on! Loose connection somewhere I guess.
will still keep watching in case someone posts something useful.
