For sale is my W124 in midnight blue. Gorgeous car. The midnight blue polishes up superbly (one of the best MB colours ever, IMHO).
It has near-perfect orion grey leather and is in very good condition. There's no body panel rust and the only rust I can find is on the battery tray.

There are a few tiny car park dings, and one bumper scuff. Perfect 8-hole alloys. Remote central locking and alarm (MB fit).

Mileage is approx 137,000, and it has an almost full service history (stamped booklet of mixed MB/specialist and then invoices - again specialist and MB). Most significantly, two years ago it had the two biggest W124/M104 problems sorted: new wiring loom and replacement head gasket (total bill at Mercedes was over £3500). Engine bay is very clean (as you'd hope after all of the remedial work at MB).

It's also had shocks in the last couple of years and I had the broken front springs replaced this time last year. Minor work was needed (washer jet) for this year's MOT (next due April 2011).

The bad things:
* As I type, it may have a battery problem. It's been flat too often in recent weeks. It starts properly on a jumpstarter, but I've got the battery out again for a full charge. Potential causes might be: a duff battery, alarm current drain, or it's possible that when the last garage 'looked at' the unattached radio wiring, they inadvertently caused a short.
* AC does not work
* No stereo

It currently has a 'private' plate: C4RFH. A forumite on another forum wanted this, and I'm waiting to see if he still does. If he does, it'll go back onto a K plate. Otherwise it wil be sold with the current plate.

Price: £1500

Location: Woodbridge (off A12, near Ipswich)

(Apologies for using the previous seller's 1-year-old pix - the weather's delaying my attempts at washing/polishing/photographing)

PS: Will PX (up or down) against a 190E 2.6 in the same spec/condition.

OK - time for a quick update - I have just fitted a new battery (actually I bought it months ago, but have been distracted by all the upheaval of an extension build, so only got around to putting it in today).

And after 4 months of standing unused, she fired up perfectly first turn. :) I'll be using the car over the next couple of weeks while looking for the right replacement.

So if you want a good condition, mechanically sorted W124 in a great colour combination this is your last chance.

(One other useful tell-tale sign: when a car sits on a crisp and clean Cotswold gravel drive for 4 months, you get to see every drop of coolant, oil, grease, rusty drainage water when you move it. And when I drove the car this morning, there was not a single mark anywhere under the car.)
