95 500sl

Complete AMG kit, including the infamous towing eye cover by the looks of things. Wheels are reps though, which chips away at that top end asking price.

No mention of wiring loom having been done either.

Strikes me as being an expensive starting price

What's the colour? Described as 'gold' in the ad. That and the brown (?) hood may put some off. The replica wheels definitely let it down, particularly when the ad states they are AMG. 75k isn't 'very low mileage' for an SL either.

Front bumper doesn't line up with the wing properly. Jacking point covers don't fit, boot badges reversed, interior worn and dirty. if it's been dry stored, why is there green growing on the corner of the hardtop. I'd suspect that it mightn't be a genuine AMG

To be fair he doesn't say its an AMG only that it has had the AMG treatment.
Still it's overpriced and not in the condition that one would expect from its description.

This is normal with the pre-facelift kit. The bumper always comes back that far, and the angle of the skirt combined with the not completely brilliant fastening design means the covers rarely sit completely flush (a gentle prod back into place wouldn't hurt though), and also leads to them escaping occasionally.

I never realised that the early ones were that bad. I think that the SL looks better in standard form with decent wheels.

I've just noticed the bumper has a rub mark at the back corner though, so perhaps you're right and it's been clouted at some point?

Sometimes one has to suffer for one's art. IMO the bronze/gold/beige is a crap colour for the early AMG kit, they look much better in dark colours such as blacks and blues.
