Hi

Reading these forums yesterday, I read about the above.
However, further research, many state the 'reset' will only last a few miles etc EG the car gets used
to ones driving style and back to where it was

Therefore, any point? I also just read a sort of prob I may experiencing, ie 9G box crawling to the roundabout and then not stopping and moving gently but
car hesitates and kickdown is required. My car does that but I have drive the car 99.9% in C (comfort) mode and that could be part of the problem. I did try
the sport mode and the car at the roundabout did not hesitate
So, is it worth the reset?

Thanks again.

I think in comfort the car prefers second over first when pulling away , sport will likely drop to first .

Resetting the box ,just quickens up gear changes , someone driving like miss daisy would make the gearbox laggy and boring.

I have experienced the hesitation from the 9 speed box at roundabouts in a couple of Mercedes cars and it’s quite unnerving but mostly eliminated when in sport mode.

My current car a 2021 GLC does not seem to have this issue or at least it’s not arisen yet so maybe also software related.

Can I ask which tyres are fitted to your GLC on the fronts .

Hello and thanks

Last year at a big roudabout near Bournemouth (out for a short break) I did not come to a stop and saw the van was a long was a long way off - I continued in my style of driving (comfort/careful) and from the crawl towards the white line and withing stopping I proceeded to lightly acclearte away knowing the van was a long way off and I'd pick up speed as normal - then it was a though i had taken my foot off the accelartor but had not and for a moment i continued to push the accelartor at my normal pace nothing and saw the van very close - so i kicked down did the trick - it was heart stopping and the van sounded their horn rightly so - like you said, it was very unerving, first time ever - I've had the car since brand new in April 2016, FSH by MB, never done it before - its done it a few more times and I'm ready - since then, several times I've given the car a very, very sporty drive and added Redex diesel cleaner - it has improved it and I guess it will be ok as you said in the "sports mode" but i prefer comfort.

I read that the reset only last a very short while as the car got used to ones style of driving - but it had never happened before until our trip to Bournemouth

I will add another redex and possibly today or tomorrow reset depending on what else i read

Otherwise, the car drives 100% and as a precaution leading up to winter - around Sept I had a brand new battery installed - MB recommended this 2 years ago - car is 250d and think its a 2.1 om651 engine

I have read around the web about few others experiencing this and almost always as approaching a roundabout and joining it and accelerating you get a massive hesitation and catches most people out the first time.

MB advise against using any additive, italian tune up weekly keeps them healthy.

Thank you.

I don't believe it had anything to do with me driving as Mr "Daisy" as I've been driving the same way for years and had the car new since 2016 and it was a first.

Not aimed at you - but a short history of my driving skills - My dad used to tick me off when I was 17/18 up until the age of about 24/25 when I drove like IMO an F1 driver - dad used to say - "son, any fool can drive fast..its STOPPING in time that counts." Never had an accident when driving myself and I hope I never will - even though many more clowns on our roads and cars since i started driving that approach and joining from side roads to main roads at close to 30mph without caring who they force to brake and avoid, the people that fling open their car doors without looking, people stepping into raods without looking whilst on their phones, thoushe that pull out in front of you on dual roads and motorways without indicating - driving the big/heavy GLE takes some stopping at sppeds over 40mph and since my mid-twenties, I've always driven very safely IMO and see every other vehicle on the road and people near the kerb as potential clowns (no offence to those that drive carefully and are considerate of others) that have little regard for what is around them - so defensive driving is for me and to this day whenever I put my foot down, roads have to be pretty clear, bike/pedestrian free and in the back of my mind what dad said and the very fact their could be a blow out, mechical failure or debris or potholes on the road

Thanks

Yes, I've read that and what you said and what others have said here and other forums i read - the car can do with a high rev drive - so what I have been doing a few times on a 50mph roads etc is knocking down the gears and driving high revs - so I am not sure if its that or Redex or both have made some improvements - as others have said, the "sports" mode is much more reactive so this hesitation is never noted.

Thanks

Figure of speech . You'll see it alot on here. It's miss , daisy btw 😁😁

It may have changed since, but in the 2000s I recall that the adaptive (or “learning”) aspects of the transmission were based upon the previous 40 shifts.

The often quoted reset-that-doesn’t-reset-anything simply makes the car think that it’s just been stolen - because the accelerator pedal was 100% for 10 seconds

The car sharpens it’s reactions temporarily, changing the accelerator map, and a by product is that the transmission holds the gears longer for maximum performance.

As soon as you drive the car it realises that it hasn’t been stolen afterall and you’re just nipping to the Coop for milk, and adapts to the way you actually drive.

Actually it was Hoke Colburn that did the driving.....Miss Daily did not drive at all after she crashed her car...which was the point of the film!
