Hi there
i,ve got an A150 with service history and 3 owners with only 56,000 on the clock.
i just wondered how long the clutch will last.
i do a mixture of motorway driving and town drivingbut more motorway driving with hardly any stops.
the clutch is not slipping and ive put it into 3rd gear and let the pedal up and it stalls perfectly it also doest slip on hills either.
i got told by a merc specalist near where i live that theyve got a 2005 A150 courtsey car with 163,000 on the clock and still on its origanl clutch and theyve had it since it was 10 years old.
PLEASE ADVISE

Parted with my wife's A180 last year , 95,000 and still on the original clutch and no slippage whatsoever.

It depends on how you (previous owner) drive it.

As an aside this reminds me of two brothers who made YouTube videos of long distance motorcycle journeys. The whole premise being that they had not a clue about motor bikes.

On both journeys (India and China) they bought identical brand new bikes and had them both serviced at the same time (Royal Enfield and BMW respectively) . On both occasions one brother had complete clutch failure when the other had none.

They seemed mystified by the failures when it was obvious one of them was 'riding' the clutch to destruction and the other brother was not.

Sorry for rambling on...

I do not know what you expect in a reply that could be of use?

There are too many variables in terms of your driving style, journey types, the way it was treated by previous owners etc etc.

Well many drivers wonder just how long a clutch will last in the car they own, especially when you buy a second hand one,you have done the 3rd gear check and the car passed that,as long as you drive it well and do not ride the clutch it should last another 50,000 miles.

The 3rd gear test with the handbrake on

In the wrong hands the clutch will not survive tomorrow and 50 miles.
With only long motorway journeys and no stop start it will last 10 years and 300k miles at least
In reality it is somewhere in between depending on how you drive the car.
