My car has decided to go wrong again today, just having left MB in Exeter (picking up spare parts) the dreaded red dash lit up.

So I thinks to my self what do I do, I cant do much before I go away, as I would not leave it out down there for the duration, so I drive home at 40mph.
I stopped ever so often and restarted but nothing, it stayed red. The car was getting lower but not on any particular corner so that rules out any more struts, 4 miles from home flashing up car too low, but I got it home, made a coffee and tried again, all ok this time and i could raise the car to max height.

OK I thought, not so its now stuck up in the air and will not come down so the rotten thing can stay like that till I get back.

The battery has been off the car for two weeks, we shall see in a few weeks

Warranty, whats that, no I have not got one of those, I have had the car some 15-16 months now

Hi Malc, i have seen a few in the garage i use, butits normally the s class or the cl with the ultra low rider look ;) never thought you was into that....

i think your best at finding the fault yourself knwing your expertise in these situations, usually they have a broken pump which raises and lowers along with faulty control units, it will need to go on STAR with full diagnostics me thinks.....

easy to say bot dont let it ruin your holiday and forget about it as you said above till you get back have a good trip mate

Thanks Raj Its still sitting up this morning at max and the control does nothing so I suspect it is the ECU as the car is sitting fair and square.

I have had the ABC lamp coming on now and then for some time, but it was too hard to find, and nothing worthwhile recorded.

It was only 2 weeks ago that I said that leaving the battery off for long periods can give problems

Isnt blackc55 near you? im sure he will be able to use the STAR to test it or at least get to normal ride height for you????
thats the problem with all modern cars all rely on electrics far too much

Raj

Black is some 165 miles away sadly.

I have fluid running out now just under the front apron, but time is too short now for me to do much. If I get an hour in the morning I may take off the under tray

I suspect the level has got low due to the leak so the red warning comes up.

Hope you have deep pockets again.......

IIRC there is a known fault with the pipe running under the car causing a leak.

Not a big job but needs a new pipe.

Tv.. It's a good job you kow your Citroen cars...have no fear...

In reality this syem is nearly identical to a Citroen C5 supension, except the rams are not so good on the Mercedes so wear and leak.

I have found the problem after taking off the wheel arch liner, its 315 in the link leaking from the switch sender 320

So not the end of the world yet:cool:

The only thin is with these things is that you have to de activate the whole thing and that is beyond me, even to remove the switch, thats under the same pressure.

There is not much too the thing that is leaking just that flat bock in the link, with the sensor, I can only hope that the sensor has deactivated the whole thing for the electrics are doing nothing.

Link..??

To depressurise it must be similar to a citroen, there must be a pressure relief valve.

Just undo a pipe union, it will depressurise then..:D

the car at odd times, mainly from a cold start would put on the ABC warning, once the white light is on you cant change the height. On taking the arch liner off I can see that its been on going for some time looking at the mess.

Just took one last look and where the switch screws in its blowing bubbles when turn off, all of the connectors and wires are soaked, but the fluid has zero resistance.
The car is still sitting at max height and I cant lower it and I cant find the faulty piece in the MB program or the bit in the link, its just not mentioned.
Tonight I will look at the wiring diagrams.

Who ever is looking down to me, be kind for the end result could help some one else

Where exactly it this part located and can you take a photo of it to try to decide what it is.

I wonder if it's on the low pressure return side of the hydraulics hence not jetting oil out but now the level has dropped the car has locked the system out.
