Hello everyone,

Considering buying this CLK, being new to MB can someone give me info on the interior spec and the wheels. ?

It's a 2005 230...

Many thanks

Oops it's a 240.. Got 2 pics up now.

What are the different engines, 230-240 ?

2.3 2.4 I guess. ?

What you're looking at is the new shape CLK which was introduced in around 2002 (I think).

The chassis reference you will often hear used relating to the old shape CLK is "W208".
The chassis reference you will often hear used relating to the new shape CLK is "W209".
The CLK you are looking at is a W209.

The 230 engine was used in the old CLK. It was a 2.3 petrol engine.
The 240 engine is/ was used in the new shape CLK and I believe is a diesel engine.
I'm not too familiar with the 240 engine but I'm sure others will chime in soon.

Good cars, by the way.
Try to avoid early CLKs as, like a lot of new models, they had a few teething problems.
But you'll be fine with a 2004+ model.

240 is a 2.6 petrol in a W209 CLK

I have a CLK 280 V6. Fast , very comfortable and rides well with very little road noise. Changed the wheels from 17 to 16inch.

Hi Craigo i have a clk(209) 240 2.6 V6 the 230K engine was in the previous model clk(208) and was a 4cyl supercharged engine. In the pics you hvae posted i think it is the elegance model this has wood dash/inserts etc the avantgarde has aluminium dash/inserts as standard. The elegance spec cars come with softer suspension than the avantgarde but both have same standard spec. Most CLK's come with leather and are automatic but this was not standard on the CLK 240 I would look for heated seats, parking sensors & electric seats as options. The alloys on the pic are aftermarket so might be worth checking they are genuine AMG alloys. Good luck.

Thanks the the info guys,

The alloys have been on since new and are typically corroded for split rims :-( a costly extra at the time I bet ?

So the car has low mileage 48000, any idea of its real time value right now, for bargaining purposes ?
It does have the heated electric seats, not sure on the parking sensors

So it's a 2.6 V6 non supercharged ?

correct 2.6 V6 (non supercharged) petrol 170bhp) available in manual or automatic.
The supercharged engine avaliable in the CLK(209) was a 200 Kompressor

If you see Kompressor after the engine this means supercharged.

Love the walnut steering wheel, which I would like on mine but no sat nav, still a very nice car.
Compare the car with other CLK's for sale on Autotrader as to value.
Make sure all windows work as they should when the doors are opened and close automatically when the doors are shut.
The seat belt butlers operate when the ignition is switched on, also check the roof works OK but should not be opened when wet so inspect the car in dry conditions.

The alloys pictured look like alloys from the CLK55 AMG and are expensive if genuine. I doubt these were factory fitted from new, otherwise it would have the amg bodykit (expensive option). If you have the VIN number of the car i can find out the original factory spec/options of the car. Does the owner have the original invoice for the car as this should also have the options list on it.
It is the facelift 2005 240 auto cab elegance in Jasper blue with orion grey interior(i think) with 38K miles(very low for this age) and full service history you would be looking around £5k but this depends if it is rust free and condition. CLK's can vary in price due to spec and condition(especially rust/service history) and if you are purchasing from a dealer with a warranty they could be asking up to about £6k-£6.5k. Service history is key with this car especially to verify the mileage.
The CLK with the 240 engines are considerably cheaper than those with the 320 engine as the 320 has 218bhp and is faster than the CLK240 whilst only doing about 2mpg less than the 240.

Also from the images you have posted it looks to me like it has parking sensors but not heated seats? is it the electric drivers seat and manual passenger seat.

These I checked already and worked just fine.

Many thanks :-)

Gosh, it's priced up at nearer the 7 grand mark ! Can't find any near the 5 or 6 grand mark with low miles. Or anything else with low miles for that matter. :-(

Its the low mileage that is whacking the price up then, its because low mileage is rare so its what your willing to pay for low mileage. Looking on autotrader/internet it looks like i may have been under estimating the value of the car. Is it from a dealer? if it has just come up for sale the price wont have been dropped yet so they will be seeing if they can sell it for that price. If the alloys are in real bad condition it will be expensive to replace them(if beyond refurb)-worth bearing in mind as cars with the amg alloys look real nice and can also push the price up, you can use bad points like this with the car to negotiate a better deal and get the price down. Always haggle there is no harm in trying. Have you been to see the car yet?
I love my CLK and i am yet to find a CLK owner who does not like theirs. The looks and handling great and make the car great value for money IMHO... they are easy to live with day to day and very reliable. Just watch out for rust and electrical problems as this is the cars achilles heel.

browsing autotrader i found this CLK 240 elegance cab auto (no amg alloys) for less than £5,500 with full service history and 53k miles.

Mercedes-Benz CLK 2.6 CLK240 Elegance 2dr

That's a great find, missed that one totally and looked through several times tuh

Anyhow, the bloke selling the one I looked at will drop his price significantly ! He knows he over priced it.
All going to plan I'll collect it Friday Woo hoo. Happy days :-)
Many thanks again guys

Craig
