My pride and joy is home :D

A couple of exhaust leaks to fix thanks to a knob who can't reverse and a knock to find in the rear suspension and i'll be back on the road.

Just driving it up the driveway reminded me why I love this car so much :p

Dave!

that looks lively..

some pics would be great to see of your 500e 124..

Is this your own trailer? or hired? borrowed? its a good trailer.. need to get my own now as keep borrowing friends!

I hired the trailer from Barnwell Trailers in Peterborough, really nice trailers, less than £60 for a days hire and really nice to tow, load etc.

I'll get some new pictures of the barge soon, i'm just enjoying seeing it on the drive at the minute :bannana:

Nice car! Used to speak to a guy online a few years ago called Brian who used to own that exact car. Amazing machine! We need more pics!

Whats an average scruffy 500E going for these days? Once i'm 21 I think i'll have to buy one!

Probably a lot more than you realise!

Possibly £6-7k for one with a few faults/poorer cosmetic condition, around £10k perhaps for a nicer one. Real minters comand as much as people are prepared to pay - rare cars to find in the UK, especially with low miles (kms) and in very good condition.

Yep it's Brians old car, we did a part ex plus cash just over 4 years ago now. He kept it like I keep it, using it normally and servicing it well, so the car isn't spotless by any means but is in fantastic condition.

You can get some cheap 500Es, the problem being in the parts which need replacing but are hard to judge unless you have a fair few miles driving one.

I've replaced the rear subframe bushes, engine mounts (big difference there) front dampers, rear spheres, hydraulic lines etc etc. They hide their wear and tear very well and all the parts above, bar the hydraulic lines, made a noticeable difference to the way the car drove.

Long may it continue!

You must be over the moon to have it back on the road again!

What is the spec?

Looking forward to more pics...

far too polite, no one has asked what the sentence was for??

19 months?

The car was sentenced to 19 months in storage for being totally awesome and just too cool.

As I'm a highly boring 500E fanboy I can wholeheartedly agree with the above comment :p

I was working away for months at a time and decided it was better it was stored somewhere safe and dry rather than just in my garage at home. I used Elite Auto Storage and was very pleased with it all.

It's a very low spec 500E, no heated or memory seats, no centre cubby, no rear blinds. It basically has full leather and climate control, weighing in at a spritely 1720 kilos on the weighbridge, a 500E RS :D

Goes well, stops well, handles brilliantly after the suspension bits were done and a full alignment done by a Merc trained technician, it's surprising how crap it felt when it wasn't set up by the book.

I have a louvered panel to fit in the undertray and a few little jobs to do before I get it taxed and on the road but that's it really. A nice Ying to the Yang of my 110 Defender.

I think the biggest job will be winterising it, it's currently rust free so I want to clean up underneath and then give it a thorough Waxoyl and treat all the parts I can. Possibly some EVO11 alloys if funds permit.

Thanks for the nice comments all :thumb:

Dave!
