Hi do any of the experts on here know if Air Con can be reset? I have had it regassed twice each time they have said there are no leaks. It blows cold for a week then doesn't blow cold at all. It is driving me crazy. Its a W211e class from 2007. I have attached a photo can I hold buttons down to try and reset it? Or must there be a leak? Or is it a faulty module/sensor? Please help!

Well I doubt you can reset it,if you look on the screen with aircon selected you will I suspect see it is not chosen or ticked and if you do tick the box it will go out again,it is because there is not enough gas,my suggestion is you look for a car aircon specialist near you they are about, they do not repair cars or fit tyres they do aircon.

If they keep regassing it and it works for a week you likely have a leak. You need to ask them how much gas was in the system at the end of the recovery phase. The most common leak on these cars is from the condensor.

OK many thanks for the advice I'm sure I read you could hold buttons down to reset it

On the W203 one could reset the system by holding buttons but that only reset the air flaps and then never completely. On the W211 I believe it can only be done using STAR.

I'm surprised you got 'cold' air.
I regassed mine, there was approx 261mg still in and it passed a nitrogen pressure test (that's better than the machines purge test).

Anyway after a successful regas of 950mg it wouldn't blow cold until I used iCarsoft and performed a rest while still sat at ATS as they were trying this and that. Shortly afterward it was blowing nicely.

My theory is that the system recognised the low gas pressure, even with the ignition off, and locked out the system until the reset.

Ask for a nitrogen pressure test prior to regas.

Yep, take it to a vehicle aircon specialist to do a proper nitrogen pressure test. With the garages that plug in those recharging machines then walk away whilst it does it's programmed set routine, it just pulls a vacuum & sees if the system holds that vacuum for a set time as the leak test. The thing is, pulling a vacuum is only the equivalent of minus 15 psi, to do a proper leak check the system needs to be pressurised with nitrogen to at least working pressure (at least 200 psi).
