So on my S211 if I press the air con button, it flashes at me, before going back to solid red.

I plugged in the faul reader and it showed refridgerant pressure is too low

So I reset the codes and started the air con, this time the off light stayed out, yet no cool air. Also no fault codes have returned.

So, I suspect it does need attention. A leak test, compressor test? Air con isn't something I have the kit for.

Does anyone know someone who I can trust with my car and air con near Princes Risborough or Thame?

I know many will be dismissive of this, but KwikFit have the proper equipment to do a re-gas at a fixed cost of £59.95. The thing is too, that if it doesn't work, you get a full refund so you have nothing really to lose. Now, let's hear all the dissenters on this suggestion LOL

Can they do a pressure test?

I'm always weary of a regas, as, where has the gas gone?

Just had mine done today - see post here...

AirCon 'econ' red light query...

Their procedure does include a pressure test, but I was advised that it would detect a sizeable leak, but if it's a small pin hole, or dodgy seal, it may pass the test with the equipment they have.

February 2018 I had a regas done local MB dealers at their special out of season rate of £40. May be worth giving dealer a call.
Sometimes Kwickfit do a special out of season rate as well.

Well I always think it best to go to a specialist air con company,as you seem to be in Oxfordshire there is one in Reading called Cool car telephone number 01183362665 ,I use a company similar near where I live, they are first class, saving drivers a fortune by rebuilding compressors ,instead of what many garages do and just bill for a new one.

I had a price from the main dealer.

£162 for an initial diagnoses
£100 for a re gas.

I'd rather stick with hot air.

Any indies people can recommend around the Thame/Princes Risborough areas?

What a rip off! My first point of call would be somewhere like KwikFit. They will do a pressure test and re gas for you at £59.95. AND, if it's unsuccessful, you get your money back. They can't repair it, but if it gets cold, then doesn't work after a few days, at least you can diagnose the compressor works, and you just have a leak, most likely the condenser radiator...

I know right, total rip offs. That's just an morbidly obese amount of money.

I'll take a look into Kiwk Fit, just that I don't usually associate them with competence, but maybe I'm wrong.

Not much competence needed, they connect their big AirCon machine to 2 x pipes within the engine bay and let it run through the diagnostic/re gas procedure. Like I said, worth doing in that if it doesn't take, you get your money back, can't say fairer than that. It's not as if they are a MB dealer who if their re gas fails, will gladly offer you zip all LOL

It's telling you what's wrong right on the screen. You'll need to find and fix the leak or you'll be back to where you are before too long.

I really should read all the 'old' posts before responding LOL

Well yes. I can't justify outspending on the kit, which is why I need a specialist. This isn't a routine job which needs doing.

Honestly buddy, 'google' AirCon auto engineers in your area, it's their bread & butter, just stay away from an MB garage. If it is the condenser radiator, pick one up on Ebay and get someone local to fit it...
