Air condtioning on A209 200 kompressor

I have a 2003 A209 200 Kompressor and when I switch on the Air con the Light comes on but nothing else happens as the air coming out of the vents is not cold enough. The temperature is on low, so I would like to know where the air con unit is under the bonnet and what if anything would you suggest I look at to see why it has failed.
