Located in the driver side wheel arch, behind the plastic liner near the bulkhead. You need to remove the wheel and the arch liner. It is mounted on a metal bracket secured with a security Torx bolt. You will need the right bit to unscrew, or give the centre pin a sharp whack with a drift and hammer and it will snap off. Then you can use a standard Torx bit.

The alarm just unplugs, but it is a sealed unit. If the batteries have leaked then is will need replacing due to corrosion on the circuit board.

New unit is about £65 from Merc. If you drive around with no alarm fitted, chances are your insurance will be invalid.

Is there no way to crack it open and repair the pcb ?? I'm quite handy with pcb cleaner ad a soldering iron lol.

Cheapskate or what lol

If you are handy with a soldering iron you may be lucky. The pics show what you are up against. The problem is that the Varta batteries soldered to the PCB leak and cause the damage. My Indie says it is almost engineered to fail, needing replacement. If you search this and the 'other' forum you will find dozens of posts regarding the problem....

Thanks for the info. It does look nasty looking at your pics.

Can those type of batteries be sourced ??

They are 3.6V and are easily available from Ebay. The thing is, the PCB is a control board for the alarm unit. It takes signals from the CANBUS on the car to trigger the siren. The batteries leak and corrode the PCB, so by the time you start to have problems, the damage hass already been done.

Here is a link to a thread in the USA that has some more info. I would just bite the bullet and replace it. The chances are it is beyond repair anyway.
