Hi.

I recently bought a GL 350 2011. It has a Alpine x800d-u radio installed. The unit looks much better then the original as the screen is bigger and a few more things available. The one issue I have is I am not able to set the time on the cluster as the setting option is not there. Does anybody know how I can do this without taking to the garage?

I would imagine the information you require will be in the instruction manual, incase you don't have it....

I don't have the same head unit, I just googled it FYI. HTH

Hi.

It’s the time on the instrument cluster that I need to change not the time on the Alpine unit.

The MB user manual say you need to go to setting but that is not available.

Thanks

You may need to have the car reprogrammed to tell it that the COMAND unit is no longer there. This should unlock the clock option in the menu system, rather than having the time set automatically by COMAND.

Hi. All the options of setting ambient lighting etc are there but not the time option. Is the a OBD unit I could get?

That's as you'd expect if the car had COMAND previously, as the time was set through that. On my 211 install, it was reprogrammed for an Audio 20 which unlocked the clock menu.

It's a job for STAR machine, unfortunately.

How rich are you feeling? Putting together a STAR system (laptop+multiplexer+software) is not cheap. A genuine system from MB is thousands of pounds. Clone systems are hundreds, but you'll need one in developer mode to carry out coding.

Then you have to learn how to use it, it's far from intuitive.

A specialist will be able to carry out the necessary work for a fraction of the price.

I’ll see if my local mechanic can give me a hand. I think he has something this this.

Thanks [emoji1303]

Was that the one at a main dealer recently?

If so, get them to code it properly, or to pay for a local Merc dealer to code it.
