I'm curious to know what owners drive their cars in regarding the gearbox options. I'm aware there is a newer 9 speed Mct box avalible now. But like I said as being new to me the Mct 7 speed is a lot more complicated than the 5gtronic I had in the 55. I am really enjoying playing with the different settings avalible. What works best for you?

I tend to drive it in 'S' most of the time when I'm interested, otherwise I leave it in 'C'

The 'S+' shift programmes make the gearbox downshift with too little throttle and at the shift line moves up too far for everyday driving. 'S' mode is a good balance and more refined feeling, while still being responsive.

'M' mode, with a boot full of throttle in third gear from low speeds shows off the torque of the TT motor at low RPMs. Upshifts are too slow, whereas downshifts are really good. Not sure why it works like that.

Cheers,
Alex

Interesting reading that Alex. I like you drive it in c for pottering around but if I feel like having a play I go for any of the other options. C changes up very quick I like S mode it suits my driving style. I'm sure the exhaust gives more burble as the rpm is raised the bit more. What car /engine have you got Alex?

I have to say also it takes a good while to adjust to the paddles.

Being a bi-turbo I expect yours to behave differently to the 6.2.

S S+ I find perfect for shifting points as the gear is held onto that little bit longer than c mode gives. The only downside to that is the box drops into 1 gear when you come to a halt. The S mode I think should drop to second gear also but this doesn't seem to be the case. I think once masterd in the different options it will be an even more enjoyable experience.

Double post :wallbash:

Driving the car this evening around the back country lanes. S+ is not ideal as holds on to the gear that bit to long for me. The other day I did the same route and S mode suited much better. It changes perfectly for when one would do so themselves. S mode and manual mode seem to suit for me wanting to play. C mode just goes through the gears like instantaneous you are in 6/7 gear at 40 mph. Takes a bit of getting used to this Mct box

Driving the car in C mode last couple days. And when you use the paddles like the 55 with the buttons the car won't change gear unless you hold the upshift paddle to force it back in to c mode. This is a handy trick that I liked with the 55.
