I don't do estates....and neither could I afford it to be honest......but I'd love an hour in it at about 5 in the morning on a sunny Sunday on my favourite Southdowns road. The best time to really "drive"......just to see what it can do and if it was actually any use on the road. It could easily be slower than stock in the real world away from drag straps. Many years ago when Fast a Furious was new on the scene a friend bought a R33 Skyline import that was already at around 700 horses. Several thousand pounds later it was kicking out 1003 horses....he still has the dyno chart on his home office wall! Quite a lot back then...especially for a mere 2.6 L 6 pot. It was scary fast.....almost undriveable due the the massive turbo lag (big turbos for big power...but they take much longer to spool...relatively). Five hundred ish horses at 3500 revs jumped to nearly a 1000 by 4000!!!!....hilarious....but almost useless. To the point that on back lanes where you could drive fast you were too scared to put the pedal down in anything other than a straight line on a dry road...and even then it was a case of constantly correcting the steering to keep it between the hedges. A well driven stocker would have been a better, faster point to point machine. Happy days!
Times have moved on , turbo lag is better controlled with software (to the point its not noticeable on most stock cars). Software can also control were the power/torque is made in the rev range and even send it to the tyres with most grip....and the car in this thread is 4wd (as was the Skyline).....so if it's been done properly it could be great fun...and even reliable.....after all you will only be able to use anything like fully power for a tiny amount of time....so the rest of the time the, hopefully, upgraded components, won't be dealing with much more than std power numbers.
