C Class Coupe 2017
Its my first time posting on the forum, nice to meet everyone!

I have a C Class Coupe with the Comand system and am wondering if anyone has had any success getting Android Auto to work on it? I've been searching around and seen that you used to be able to do it but Mercedes have blocked it in some way....Any ideas?

It should work as far as I know, although I've never tried it. You have to plug your phone into the USB socket with the 'phone integration' symbol on it which is an icon of a phone and tablet together, normally found in the centre console cubby in the arm rest. So it might be you're just not plugging into the correct USB socket.

Your phone has to be paired as 'Main phone' as well prior to plugging it into the USB.

Thanks for the reply. The car doesn't have Android Auto enabled currently (2017 C Classes didn't ship with it from my understanding). There are companies out there who can apparently install it but looking to see if anyone has had success on here with it before?

Ah my bad, wrong end of the stick. No it looks like they didn't start putting in the C Class until 2018. To be honest I had it in my Focus ST and I never used it, I found the Ford system easier to use.

You are thinking of forum sponsor Mercedes Parts Specialists. Contact them for advice.

Same but different...

I have a GLE350d 2016 vintage, it's got Apple CarPlay but NO Android Auto, obviously I've got an Android phone! So in an effort to get a feel for what advantages upgrading would bring I borrowed an iPhone 5c - iOS 10.3.3 which is the most recent OS for that phone. Got phone all set up, linked to my iCloud account and with an active SIM. Plugged it in and all works as expected HOWEVER when accessing the iPhone none of the other infotainment systems (SatNav, SD card, Trip Comp etc) on the car are accessible.

I posted a thread on here about this

GLE350d (W166 - 2016) Apple CarPlay

I'm told that I could access the radio by going through the MB section on the CarPlay, I've yet to try that but I'd be surprised if that wasn't the case.

So given all this if your car has SatNav an SD Card slot and connects to your phone by BT other then the Apple display on the infotainment screen I'm struggling to see any advantage to either CarPlay or Android Auto, in fact it seems backwards as both would need a USB cable connection. As things stand I'm all connected to the car via BT, calls and texts come in, I can play audio off the phone, listen to PodCasts cant see what I'm missing...

Better satnav and more choice. the MB satnav is great but Waze is more up to date and Google maps in satellite view is visually stunning.
choice of streaming services - spotify/tidal etc (it IS the 21st century after all! :) )
Good visual phone integration
With the latest version of carplay you can have multiple apps on the screen e.g. satnav and media.
And probably a few more I can’t think of.
It’s not brilliant but on a longer journey definitely useful.

edit: actually, thinking about it you can have the streaming services directly through usb without carplay.

As above. Waze / Apple Maps / Google Maps - all with live traffic, speed limits display, camera, always up-to-date, and completely free. And no messy phone holder on the windscreen or air vents.
