Big motorhome sold … six month old, Mercedes Sprinter based, Hymer Grand Canyon S Camper Van picked up today …

Rather nice spec with Distronic, Blind Spot Assist, 7G Auto, MBUX 10.25 Multimedia System with Car Play etc, Heated Windscreen, On the Hymer side … pop top roof, diesel heating and hot water system, 200 Watts of solar panels on the roof, wind out awning, full leather seats, shower room, kitchen, fridge etc.. double bed downstairs and another double in the roof.

It’s the nicest van I’ve ever driven - not quite car-like but a much, much better drive than my old Fiat Ducato based motorhome.

This is my adventure wagon / camper truck… just add mountain bike and go exploring....

If there is any interest I'll post up some more pictures and driving experience reports.

It got a bit of use last weekend .... brief trip to the Isle of Skye. Fantastic weather and scenery. Averaged 31mpg when I was driving but only 27mpg with my wife, aka the hooligan, at the wheel.

A couple of Mercedes based Hymer side by side on the ferry ..

That looks awesome and a proper go anywhere vehicle at anytime and on any day. That Hymer next to you looks pretty cool as well. If I had one of these I would happily forget what my front door looks like and would be off for months at a time. Nice buy. Enjoy 😎

Time to update this post.

The Hymer Sprinter van was sold in 2022 year and replaced with a 'proper', but Fiat based, Carthago motorhome, which in turn was replaced in 2024 by ..... another Mercedes Sprinter based motorhome....

This one is a Hymer MLt580 on the Sprinter 4x4 AWD chassis.

So far I've owned it for six months and 8000 miles. Purchased it new in Germany, and I went through the personal import process and got it UK registered.

It's Left Hand Drive, Auto 9G AWD, 190bhp. LED headlight lights, driving assistance pack less blind spot assist, auto handbrake, keyless start etc etc

I've just returned from a 6,000 mile shakedown trip to Morocco, where it performed flawlessly, both on road and piste.

It's very car like to drive despite it's size, height and comedy tyres.

The living accommodation side is very comfortable and has a pretty serious lithium battery bank, charging systems and an inverter. Diesel powered hot water and heating systems.

Pretty much all mod cons.

I rather like it!

But cut to the chase, Mrs S wants to know where did you get that cushion?
