Not on ebay, its on the Trader.

Identical to the other one I missed out on, but 13000 less miles. The price is silly, at £11K though compared to the £9K one. Service history is all MB (Teeside and Stockton)- Gearbox oil changed at 36K. However, I am not going that high, I reckon trade price must be about £6-7K on that car so his premium is greedy in my view. I might go and look next weekend though - its much closer.

Your threads on AMG CLKs are really making me crave one. I'm looking forward to your various write-ups to see what you can get for the money.

Although the ad says 'Fully loaded' its missing at least three options in order to actually be fully loaded. That is phone pre-wire, rear sun blind and TV tuner. It also wont have electric rear windows like the advert says! They are fixed in the coupe W208.

If it's an early 2001 it may predate the new VED system too.

Hello

Millage wise it does seem better, having a AMG 55 version on 100K plus would probably worry me...they other was on 89K I think?

The price is high or seems high but its the price to change? if they offer more for your Modeo then its sort of accademic?

Its worth viewing, have you driven one yet? must be hugely different to the GL and great fun.

Hope its good

Why would it worry you ?

Massive engine - tiny car , it's not stressed in any way , even the state of tune it is in isn't particulary stressful ....

I wouldn't worry about a 100k + car as long as there was evidence of it being looked after.

Doubt it will have SLS either .....

try to drive it so you can experience it, and also have something to compare against when you view your next one

The seller seems to think it has!

As i said in post #6 ;)

The seller doesn't know that much about these models (not that I am an expert!). I asked him a few questions, primarily about the price, it is too expensive for me to justify, he responded thus:

The CLK AMG 55 is a highly disirable car and you wont find one of these under £10000 unless its done 100K and has a low spec.
My AMG has every extra know to an AMG as the original owner has ticked all the optional extra boxes and has gone for everything.
I disagree that you feel the car is worth £7/8000 as i would rather keep this car and leave it in my garage as these cars will eventually become collectable
(1991 Mercedes 190 Cosworth you could pick one up in 2000 for around £5000 now in 2009 there demanding £25000+)
The CLK AMG is a modern day classic and will only go up in value.
I,ll leave it with you as i would haggle a little but not to what you thinking as i could offer you £5/6000 for your jag but £7000ish is a fair trade in value to which you would get offered anywere for.

I know there have been some cheaper ones out there (<100K miles and <£10K). His car doesn't have all the options, and I would doubt that 190 Cosworths go for £25K. I will go and see this car, hopefully next weekend, I don't think it will be flying 'off the shelf'!

It looks like a great example - good specification, nice sensible (low) mileage, quite a late reg'd 208 CLK55. Colour combo is spot on and safe for resale

Having said that, I do also think that £11k is a bit expensive, although if it was absolutely mint - perfect, no rust, recently serviced - no faults, I guess it could be worth £8-9kish?

Towards the end of last summer/autumn time, I was following an auction from a bona-fide prestige car dealer for a nice CLK55. It had 50/60k on the clock, pretty much full spec (COMAND, front/rear parktronic etc etc), silver with black leather - looked great and only made ~£8k, although I feel that it was quite a bargain at the time :)

Go and have a look anyway, people are more receptive to offers from people who seem keen and have made an effort to view. Some people find emailed/txt'd/short phone call offers, especially slightly 'low' ones a bit annoying.

Best of luck with the search.

BTW, It'd have to be quite a special 190E 'Cosworth' to make £25k. I have seen two (very special/low mileage ones) that were advertised close to that (high teens), but not £25k.

For £25k you'd be looking at one of the Evolution models, specifically a good Evo-II which isn't really quite the same car :)

Will

I think just in my mind 100k plus would concern me your right though properly maintained 100K car against badly maintained 60K could be better.

Doubt it will become a classic.

The only 190E would surely be a 2.5v16 Evo II the one with the huge spoilers. Remember seeing one of them years ago in Germany and they do look nice.

Move onto the next one, your never going to meet on values.

Peter this ones priced way too high. Haggle hard!

This guy will be licking his wounds over the next few months if he does not get real with the priceing of his car, either that or he is not that botherd about selling.

or he's being very greedy with his margin!

There's lots of clk55's taking 6-12 months to sell on autotrader at the moment.

If priced competitively then they do go quite quickly.

I reckon most of the traders who have priced it high are either too stubborn to take a hit on price, or are just prepared to sit it out until someone pays over the odds.

There have been a couple of examples late last year where 55"s have sat for 6 months at a couple of grand 2 much, then the trader drops the price suddenly and then there is a stampede to buy it. I missed one by 20 mins in the same way.
