Any affordable multiplexer/diagnostic sw. for 2006 CLK

I'm planning on retrofitting some stuff to my 2007 CLK200 (Xenon, Parktronic, etc...) and I was thinking of getting a diagnostic. sw. so I could code the car by myself.

However, as I understand - those cheap multiplexers sold on E-Bay work with Carsoft 7.4 and support cars only up to 2004.

Since my car was produced in October 2007 and itself being CLK 209.341 model from 2006, I'm not really sure if those cables/multiplexers would be ueful at all.

Is there another affortable choice - by "affortable" I mean <$500 affordable - so, this excludes original MB gear for sure.

Carsoft isn't really much use if you have a modern vehicle.
There are plenty of diagnostics companies who are marketing DAS (Star Diag), and who will sell you a system complete with IBM T30 laptop, multiplexer, and a full set of leads for about £800.

I am not sure about the technical legalities of the systems in terms of DAS copyright, but I have heard that they work extremely well.........
