Any W216 Owners?

Am considering a W216 CL63 to replace the Arnage - something like this. Anything to look out for specifically?

Hi, Welcome.

Got mine in October last year. Awesome motor. Can't imagine how fast the CL63 is because mine is fast enough even in Comfort mode. Mine is a standard car with AMG body kit and AMG wheels. Only other option is a reversing camera and apart from passengers going "oo, er", I've not figured out it's use.

Personally, I would get an RAC inspection done as unfortunately, the dealerships don't really do any testing of the cars they are selling, apart from short test drives by potential customers. Make sure you negotiate hard as gas guzzlers are not moving. Merc warranty is now full for cars with over 50K miles and under 100K. Get the MOT done within 6 months of purchase, at a Merc dealer, as they will find anything that needs doing and you can get it done under warranty. Mine has done 67K miles and needed a few things doing that the Merc dealership had not spotted (same as my last used Merc, different Merc dealership). Hope this is useful.

I've driven a W221 which bar engine and more doors is more or less the same as a 216. Lovely car, less characterful probably but very nice nonetheless

No. From the stories I have read, the W215 was ahead of it's time and had a few issues but I have a friend who has a late W215 and says he's had no issues at all.
Again, from what I have read, the W216 is a better made and designed car and certainly when I dove it over the pennines at the week-end, it felt fantastic on the road (not on the M62 - lol).

Well one thing that puts me off - discs and pads all round are £3k for parts alone - with no alternative supplier .

To answer your earlier question that I didn't spot, I have not got the night vision feature. Have you asked an indie if there are alternative disc and pad people ? I think Television has OEM pads. EBC Reds I think.

I wouldn't put EBC anything on a car of mine. Malcolm has a W216 now does he?

I have found my cl63 to be reliable, terrible on fuel... but i knew that before i bought it!!

I prefer the 'standard' wheels to be honest - the diamond cut AMGs are just a pain.

I didn't buy it - it has 5 owners and the price was too high IMO.

I bought my CL63 on Monday so on day 5 of ownership I am loving it! The power is ridiculous.

Just a note on W216 ownership. A wonderful car. Smooth, fast, and surprisingly good when pushed. Avg mpg to from work has been 24 ish. A mix of mway and A roads. Have posted a quick review previously.
