Anyone know this car?

Motorway on that 1 is just over £20k which is ludicrous it was sold for just short of 24k in December 19 with 68k miles
The valuations of all V8 Mercs are all over the place since the chip shortage last summer kicked in.

Exactly my point the OP is looking at glass prices, imo a very well kept full history e63,c63 etc are very hard to find and cost what they cost there isn't such thing as a book price also there are some odds out there trying it on

I agree. Glasses guide prices are immaterial at the moment.

E63’s are bought and sold in such low volumes that any and all of the guide prices are almost irrelevant.

WBAC et al will always bid low on these cars because a) the potential for expense to put it right is high, and b) if it’s sold by a trader, the cost of a proper warranty is enormous.

Also options are not taken it to consideration

I love it when I read that....see it so often on other forums. The Glasses Guide retail prices are not just made up...it's based on what real cars actually sold for (in what they call "Guide Condition.....so not needing any repairs) from dealers ...not what they were advertised at....so it gives you a very good idea of what to pay. If cars are selling for way over or under book the next months guide will have figures that reflect that. If you PX your car at a dealer they well certainly base the price on Glasses trade figure whether you think that's immaterial or not!.....if they give lots over the trade prices then it just means they have lots of margin in the car you are buying! It would be useless to the millions of dealers that use it if it was otherwise! I'm sales manager at a caravan dealership and we are one of the dealers that supplies figures for the caravan version of Glasses Guide. I was sales manager at a VW and Audi dealer before that. Sure there will be individual cars that are worth more or less dependant on history, spec, colour etc.....but it's a good Guide. I don't ever pay over guide retail especially from a private seller...end of!....and by being patient I usually find one at rather less. I'm in no hurry.
Unfortunately it's looking like I might not be able to find the time to see that one this weekend and I wont have any more time off for a fortnight....I expect it will be sold by then....never mind.

All very true, at least until the volume of sales drops to almost zero for a specialist model at which point the CAP and Glass's guide values are, err, pretty spurious as they represent point events. I've bought, owned, and sold two W212 E63's the and in my experience the prices they fetch (at both ends of the deal) are rarely close to the raw guide prices.

The volumes of these cars are very low and they really do vary between the "three buyers chasing one car" and "one buyer looking at three cars" scenarios with the expected effect on price. Nicely spec'd examples in good condition and not needing money spent on consumables generally move pretty quickly and command prices significantly above the guide price, while dealers outside the Mercedes-Benz franchise are generally clueless about, and scared of, the car and will offer a low-ball price - significantly below the guide - on a trade-in in the hope the seller will go somewhere else.

The WBAC price for my old w204 ppp car was £18k I sold it privately for over £10k more ,and ive been offered stupid money for the w205 i have now ,prices dropped off abit at xmas as normal BUT you will not get a decent V8 for anything near book price

When you turn up to view a car, you should defo tell the seller that you were a sales manager at VW and Audi. Also mention your philosophy on the Glasses guide and that you won't be paying a penny more than guide price.

That should get them to drop the price to what you want pay. All the very best in your search.

Or you would most probably get the big f---off OP keep us informed if you go to view🙂

No offence intended to the OP, but the last two VWAG sales managers I dealt with both tried to rip me off on GAP insurance. So my sympathy is low for this kind of attitude, when the situation is reversed.

In my experience, these cars sell for what they sell for (when they're straight at least). Any indie dealer/private seller who knows what they have, will generally also know that if you don't buy at the price they want, there will be a queue of people waiting who will - so why negotiate?

Agree with this. There's probably some small negotiation to be had, but so long as the seller doesn't need to sell quickly, someone else will be along soon at that price...

True - there might be some minor movement in price if you're lucky. I didn't even attempt to negotiate on my car as I knew there were at least 2 other buyers who would have bought it within hours if I hadn't.

I'm thinking about taking a drive across to see it at the weekend if its not sold before then and the seller decides to be a bit more realistic on the price! Main reason is the colour combo....love the Hyacinth ....especially with the tan leather....so much better than the suicidally depressing black leather that most seem to have! Anyone know the car?

I’m confused. You expect it will be sold by then……but in your opening post you said the seller was being unrealistic with the price🤔

Fair point....but most people advertise cars with a bit of wiggle room....so I did exact to reach a compromise....and since the seller was not being as silly with the price as some being advertised at the moment and it's a rare colour I'm not holding my breath that it will still be for sale by the time I can see it.
As far a comparing to WBAC prices...well that's not at all a like for like comparison...They buy cars at trade or below so they can sell them a trade or slightly above to dealers. Where as you can sell your can sell a car privately for close to dealer retail at the moment....although I would expect the demand for sub 20mpg cars to be is a bit lower a while with the £2 per litre fuel being likely soon.
I have viewed 3 others so far.....all were good to be honest....but I'm being fussy about the colour and wanting a light interiors....something I might have to change my mind about to give me a bigger choice......all of them were at or around book. Obvious you owners want to believe that they are worth way over book....some of you will be lucky enough to find a buyer willing to pay over the odds. But there are realistic sellers out there or ones in a hurry to sell and I'll hopefully be dealing with one of them!

This makes the E in question seem like a bit of a bargain!
2014 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Auto Saloon Petrol Automatic | eBay
That was originally going to be the model for me.....I really like the FL W204.....then I drove one to discover that despite being slightly bigger than my 159 the drivers seat did not go back quite far enough for me (I'm under 6 feet) and the rear leg room seems to be slightly less. Ideally I wanted a slightly bigger car so E it is.....which is really slightly bigger than I actually need!
