I’m looking for a polish/wax type of product for the Sprinter that is reasonably priced BUT good – I only as use Zymol on the car (which is expensive BUT worth it!!!).

Has anyone tried this stuff…?

Any suggestions as waxing/polishing the Sprinter will be a big job and something that will be easy to apply will be good. The above product is suppsoed to be a "all in one".

What about Mer? - However, I think that is just a polish with no wax.

Hi Flash,
We use the good old porter cable thingie with autoglym. I reckon our vehicle is about five years old and there is not a trace of the 'r' word... Anywhere.

Using the polisher is extremely quick, and uses next to no polish. Mind you, I'm just the supervisor :D

Regards,
John

That looks to be a polish/wax similar to Mer. Mer is a good product if you need a bit of cutting agent to restore the paint, if not only use solid wax. The more liquid a wax the more it will cut the paint.

Due to being dissapointed with every car pilish/wax I have ever used I now don't use it at all and use solid furniture wax. It looks better, has no white chalk and lasts longer due to not being water based. The downside is that it's harder to apply and buff off.

Thanks Diselman...!

Glojo: I never have used a porter cable before for polishing/waxing ad would probably end up ding more harm than good due to my lack of experience with porter cables :o .

I'll just to do it the good old fashioned way and at the same time will give my arms a work out as well.

IMO Mer can be very abrasive
Zymol is the best there is..... Dont know that I'd use it on something the size of a Sprinter tho !!

Grrrr I just typed a reply and it has disappeared:mad: :) (definitely operator error)

My better half is the main operator of our polisher and trust me.... she is NOT the worlds most technically able person. She is not only left-handed, she is also kack handed :) :D (and out of the room at present)

These polishers are extremely easy to use and I cannot see how you could damage the bodywork. The joy of using them is the speed which they apply the application. You should quite literally take about an eighth of the time when polishing your van, if not even quicker. The pads cannot damage the bodywork, plus a Sprinter van is ideally suited to this method of polishing.

I often lay on the floor and polish the lower halves of our vehicles and my only complaints about these polishers are a) the weight and b) they need a 110v transformer. To a 'normal' person the weight will NOT be an issue, but the transformer is a nuisance, but I am a great believer in 'You get what you pay for'! The porter cable is excellent. Is there anyone near you that could loan you one. Be warned though, they can be addictive. I have read of some folks not getting on with them, so it might be worth hearing what there problems were.

Neither my wife or I have ever used one of these polishers to actually put a shine onto our vehicles. In my opinion it would be a waste of time in ever respect. The polisher very quickly applies a uniform, fine coating of polish which very quickly dries. We simply use a terry cloth and simply dust off this coating. You will easily do this a walking pace on a Sprinter!!

As you can imagine, I am a Porter cable convert and am so pleased I bought one for the better half :o :o  ;)

John

Cheers Glojo - I'll do some research on Porter Cables but if get no where I will just do the job manually. Unfortunately, I don't know anyone who has one to let me borrow.

I have a Porter cable or PC as its sometimes known . I use it a lot its briliant for removing swirls marks and as John says it makes polishing really easy .

For more info or ideas of what can be done with one of these see below
