Read the owners manual.
Read the forums.

However still havn't got my head round it.

I like to know how a car preforms, it's limits, it's specs.
It saves your life to know this.

So on a private track

Upon excellerating hard the car yellow triangle flashes repeatedly and the car jerks all over the show.

Whats the deal with that?

I havn't had a chance to turn it off and try setting off quick yet as I'm back on public roads again.

Before weekends etc does anyone know what (in the real world not in the manual) the differences are in setting off, asr on/ off wheel spins, loosing control having full controll etc etc.

I have attended rally courses using previous cars but I have only recently got this one and don't really know it's full potential and downfalls.

(98 c23 kompressor sport)

Appreciate any info in advance.

[SIZE=-1]"Acceleration Slip Regulation" your car is working as it should be, when the lamp comes on when you push it hard, it shows that it is working

ASR is simple traction control, if it senses a rear wheel spinning it will cut the throttle and/or apply the brakes. You can turn it off (at least partially) if you want to.

hi

Ok ta.

I read somewhere that if you turn it off, and then try a wheel spin it still won't let you smoke up the track.

If you were warming tyres up on the line how would you overcome this?

I'll have to wait till next opp and try it with ASR off.

Think I'll leave it on during road journeys though, Sounds like it should be there as a safety measure.

Thanks again.

Its a Merc, the traction control can never be fully off...

Unless its a C63 of course.

But you're right. Supermarket tarmac is the most suitable for trying this out in the wet. The ! light will be on, but as soon as you lose traction, the ASR is brought in ever so slightly and the light still flashes.

This is the way it should be for normal driving. But on some models at least one can activate "dyno mode". It switches off all ABS/EPC/ASR etc. functions, and is only supposed to be used for dyno measurement purposes.
