front ABS sensor showing '0', after advice to buy ATE only, bought one from EuroCar parts after doing the 'online' check on their website that it was correct for my car registration. Little bit surprised that after paying for a premium sensor, it looks like the insulation has been 'deliberatly damaged' - looks like a part number has been 'obscured'. Is this normal, or is it a cheaper version being sold as an expensive version?

I've bought parts before where the Genuine Mercedes or ALFA part number has been erased and the part sold in an after market box, almost like they are trying to hide the fact that its a actually genuine part!!!.....its odd but I've never had an issue.

Genuine Mercedes-Benz spare parts can only be legally sold by authorised dealers.

Under the EU Bloc Exemption, MB are obliged to supply spare parts also to independent garages, but they are allowed to stipulate that the parts can only be sold by the garage fitted to a customer's car, and including labour.

Anyone who's not an authorised dealer and selling genuine MB parts, is either doing something they shouldn't, or alternatively they buy the parts from someone else who's doing something they shouldn't be doing (the other option is that the parts are fake).

yes , ECP , apparently , used to grind down the part numbers on Lemforder prop shaft couplings to hide their origin ; I wonder if these parts were 'seconds' being sold to wholesalers by the OEM manufacturers ?
