Does any one have one?

What are they like to drive? Reliability?

I am very taken by the clean and elegant lines and the S5 supercharged V6 version.

Reviews (top gear, evo, autocar) rate the S5 Cabriolet.

Sean, I'm not sure you if you are going to get a sensible reply ;)

I agree the A5 does have great lines and not a bad engine.

He will

On a audi forum.

C'mon guys, just because it's not a Merc, doesn't mean he can't get help/advice here from his forum friends?

Btw I think it's a very nice looking vehicle. I may own a Merc but am a big Audi fan too (yes it is possible!)

I am patient :)

re: Audi forum: not interested in another forum just yet.

just looking for folks who may have had or have A5s.

My Uncle has a A4 touring 2.0tdi (2013) S-line, as a passenger its a much nicer place to be then my w204 (interior wise, i assume its the same as the A5)

Diesel engines are VERY refined and mpg is cut above Mercedes.

My only gripe is that every model looks the same and there as common as buses.

I think C and E class cabs are prettier...

Hope that helps.

i looked at the a5 and e-class when looking for a drop top. I drove the audi first and loved it, would have bought it there and then.

An hour later I was in the merc which was more expensive but i could see where the money was being spent.

I bought the e-class, had it for 2 years and loved it.

The a5 is a nice car and if you drive it on its own you will buy it.

should add that a mate has an s5 cab and loves it. not had any issues with it either.
although he doesn't do a lot of miles, less than 10k a year i think

My s5 coupe was horrifically unreliable. Audi UK bought it back off me with a large element of goodwill.

The interior is nice. The v6 is no v8 but I appreciate why they moved to it. The transmission as a manual was pretty sloppy and fell apart. Three times. Very little aural pleasure - you'd need a stasis exhaust coming from the amg and gt3.

B-I-L has an A5 2.0T petrol, I like the exterior but the interior lacks a premium feel.

My sister has a '60 plate A5 cabrio with the 3.0litre V6 TDI. I borrowed it for the day a month ago and noticed straight away that it had very impressive pull, very torquey and feels like it has more than enough power at any speed, and the 7-speed transmission is smooth (until you start playing around with it and using the paddles). Doesn't sound like a tractor when idling either. The ride was ok but a little on the hard side - might get to you a bit in long term ownership.

The big thing for me would be Mercedes use torque converter autoboxes whereas the A5 has the DSG twin clutch preselect type box. Great when on the move but less than successful on the stopping and starting or trickling along in traffic I would guess. The A5 convertible is a nicely shaped car tho.

it's between the new E400 Sport Plus (V6 biturbo petrol) Cabriolet and the S5 Cabriolet .. both about the same price and power, with the addition of quattro on the A5.

I like the new E, but looks wise, the A5 is better for me .. less shouty, and better resolved.

downsides are S5 does not have aircap, nor is airscarf available.

I also quite like the idea of quattro.

There was an RS4 Cabriolet on the Norway tour I was on in the CLS55, and the RS4 was very impressive. I could not keep up with it. It was hassling absolutely everything in the group, including the lead car (with a really good driver).

Friends girlfriend had a TT petrol bought new. At around 3 years old it went up in flames. She had around a couple of minutes to stop at the side of the motorway and get out before the whole thing was completely toast.

Car was main dealer serviced and never worked hard. Anyway, After the insurance paid out she did the only sensible and logical thing possible....

Bought another brand new petrol TT

:)

My view is although the first gen CLS is a bit old now it still is a better looking car than any of the above.

The Audi A7 however I have a soft spot for though. Different animal and entirely though I guess to a hot S5.

Boss has a very nice gold S5 cab. I've ridden in it and can say it's very, very fast! Nicely fitted out inside and IMO very stylish.

Wouldn't mind one myself, but I've had it with rag tops and only want tin tops now. :D

I agree original CLS rocks :)

I think the A7 is butt ugly though
