Apologies if this has been asked before but i'm new to the MB brand and to this forum.

I've just bought a 2000W CLK and the auto gearbox has a leaky sump gasket that a previous owner has repaired with a metal paste. I've bought a new gasket, new filter and 10lts of ATF to effect a proper flush and repair. My question is - do the 6 sump bolts need replacing or can they be re-used. I'm handy with the torque wrench on re-fitting but have read on other forums that these bolts need replacing ? Yes or No ? Thanks.

Yours is a 5G box, so bolts will be fine to re use, if 7g you would replace.

For the cost of the bolts, I would replace them along with the pilot bushing. I would also look closely at the gearbox pan for any signs of damage or distortion that may prevent you from getting a good seal. Torque values are pretty low so be careful when refitting them. Oh and the small bolt in the pilot bush needs a light touch when tightening.
