The general concensus is likely to be to go out and buy a good manual transmission car rather than carry out the work or at least find a rusty or crashed donor car to keep costs to a reasonable level.

Are you thinking of carrying out the work yourself?

Thanks for reply I do have some one who will do it. (cash) not garage prices. But I would ideally like some one closer to me (Bristol)

Good luck with your project.

One thing in your favour is that the Automatic gearboxes were fairly unsophisticated until the later models in terms of electronic control which should hopefully make any conversion easier to integrate 👍

Question my car keeps stalling if I come up to a junction to quick? Any suggestions appreciated

Re the stalling check the OVP relay first - IIRC there is a fuse in the top of it as well.
Re the conversion to manual - to be blunt this is a really stupid idea. You will most likely have all sorts of problems with unknown second hand parts and, if someone else is doing the work, you will be paying the labour cost for each problem. You could end up spending a fortune and with a car in bits. Also bear in mind that manual cars (except the Cosworth) are much less desirable and therefore cheaper / harder to sell. You would be much better off selling your car and buying a manual.

The majority of 190s were auto for a reason, the manuals were just £hite.l, even with the getrag. You would be better of swapping the engine for a 3 l m103 , probably cheaper. I've had them all and would never have a manual 190 again

Thanks for you sound advice.
To be honest that's why I m reaching out on here as I am not 100% if I really want to go the whole job (if that makes sence)

Thanks for advice. What's the benifit of running a m103 motor (is this a more powerful motor)

It is more powerful but also not without problems swapping especially as you do not seem to have specific Mercedes experience either yourself or wi5u6your help.

Why do you want to get rid of the Automatic transmission?

Hi I hear you my mates a mechanic so a engine swp is not a problem. To be fair he also recommended keep it auto!

That's definitely more tempting. I hear turbo bandit so a turbo kit for the m103 to? Would u possibly have a motor for sale
