Brought a 4 year old C300 Cabriolet and the Aux battery malfunction message has come up. Got it booked in this week but wanted to know if it is covered under the MB approved used warranty as it doesn’t say it isn’t but wanted to save myself £178 for a inspection fee if it isn’t. Any thoughts?
Thanks Kay

Battery warranties generally are for only 3 or 4 years, so the actual battery warranty has expired.
How long ago did you buy the car?
If fairly recently I would argue the battery should be covered by the MB used car warranty and should be fit for purpose.
A new auxiliary battery wouldn't set you back anywhere near a diagnostic fee of £178, so that is worth thinking about.

Ask the service department firstly, if the battery is faulty, is it covered under their used car warranty.? If its not, no point having a diagnostics fee done.
Just buy a new battery and move on.

Batteries are often excluded from warranties as 'wear & tear items' but I've had two replaced on Approved Used cars without any quibble. I suspect your car's Aux one is actually a large capacitor rather than a traditional battery, in which case there would be an even stronger case for getting it replaced FOC. Good luck!
