B class engine software update

As title, swmbo has had a letter regarding a software update for the diesel engine control unit.
So should we let them do it or not. I have heard some conflicting reports about these updates so I am not convinced it might be a good idea.
14 plate B 246 model.

I've read too many reports in forums of diesel owners having Nox sensors go bad shortly after this (emissions) software update.
I would decline the update if I had a diesel.
