So iv been having this battery drain issue on my E55 for the past few weeks. I had it taken to a Indie who had supposedly found the drain, coming from the dome light.

This fix lasted all of 3 days. I went to the car for the first time since Sunday on Wednesday to find her DEAD...

I have gone back to garage today who had a look again and said it looks like there is still a 0.14amp drain.. Supposedly they had got the drain down to 0.06amps. Mercedes recommend 0.04amps as being ideal..

I asked the guy if this could be linked to the voltage regulator failing or the battery control modual. I never really got a certain answer. They wanted me to book it in again for further investigation. considering i spent £600 the last time for the issue not to have been resolved in reluctant to take it back to them.

Question is, would a faulty Voltage regulator or battery control module lily to cause a drain. The Stars Machine is not pinging any real error..

As always your help and guidance is much appreciated.

Test your car alarm to see if its working properly.

I think the rear SAM unit can be dodgy sometimes, in addtion to the above mentioned items.
I'd take it to another indie if you're not happy with where you've been. Are you within striking distance of Portsmouth? PCS always come recommended.

Another known culprit can be a faulty door controller.

I have been having the same problem with the battery barely strong enough to turn the engine after 4/5 days in mild weather.
Got that checked today at MBS and the auxillary (sp:dk:) battery had failed. £72 later and hopefully sorted.

You could try Comand in Lightwater, they know the electrics on these Mercedes very well. I have used them before, good service and helpful.

Not close to portsmouth really. I went to West Molesley as i work in Esher so its a 5 minute trip to drop the car off during work.

Anyone recommend an indie in surrey?

worst case scenario i take it back to the same outfit and get them to look into the things mentioned.

Ps sorry for the spelling mistake in the title :fail

I'm in the same area and I go to PCS. Well worth the drive.

These cars are very complex electrically and you want an indie who regularly maintains them and knows his way around Star, another recommend for PCS, it will be worth it in the end rather than throwing expensive parts at it.

Does the OP not say that he is not near to Portsmouth , and ask for a Surrey one instead ?

I asked about pcs as there are about of recommendations for them. It's over an hours drive to the place.

It would be well worth the drive to PCS if you can, Star is a complex diagnostic tool but it also requires experience on how to use it and to interpret any findings, it also helps if you and your staff have the training and years of hands on experience on this car platform which PCS have.

Not sure about the garages around Redhill, I usually DIY at home or go to PCS.
