Becker Audio 30 BE3307 - No Illumination

Hi Guys

I have installed a Mercedes Becker Audio 30 Model No. BE3307 Part No. A2088200886 into my 1998 W202.

The plugs and wiring fit and the unit appears to work fine. The only problems is that the LCD display and controls are not illuminated. I have tried with the car lights on and off but the unit does not light up....

I presume that the unit should be lit for operation in the dark....

What could cause this 'no lights' situation? where should I start my checks?

Any help will be appreciated.

Had a similar problem with the one in my SL. The front panel is connected to the unit by “pin type contacts” pressing onto contacts in the unit. At the bottom left if face on.
I gently pulled the front so that there was a tiny gap between the pins and contacts and gave them a good cleaning too. Soft brush and contact cleaner.. been fine ever since..
