Just purchased a 2012 C220 CDI AMG Estate, only issue is "No navigation module installed", it has the becker map pilot in the cradle in the glove box, have taken it out of cradle and noticed empty card slot, should a memory card be present? Car has just been sitting since Oct. Any advice greatly received thanks

No card slot not used, operating system & maps are stored internally. Have you tried un plugging the module & re inserting to reboot?
If it fails to respond you will need to install the Becker download manager on your home pc/laptop & check the module will communicate with it.:)

Thanks for reply. Have taken it out to check it, all looked fine, reinserted it but nothing working. The previous owner has sadly passed away, the car has sat unused since October, apparently he used maps on his phone, i have no cables for it either.

Did you manage to get it working as I have the same problem. Bought a new battery but still no luck. My last option is to try connecting to pc...but haven’t got a cable either...

Haven't managed yet, trying to find a cable

got cable from ebay, taken map pilot out of car, and tried connecting to laptop, nothing happening, tried the reset, but still nothing, so either cable i got isnt working or map pilot buggered

Did you check the Li-ion battery? If fully charged, it should measure 3.7V or higher. Also make sure it isn't 'bulging'.

Also, not all Mini-USB cables are 'data cables'... some are 'charging only' cables, e.g. for old-type phone chargers, and are missing the data pins.

just managed to get back off mp, found a bulging battery. Will now look on ebay/amazon for a battery then have another go.
Thanks for the advice.

Try also to check the battery voltage... if it's bulging, it's definitely on the way out, but it might still be delivering the right voltage in which case it might not be the reason for the BMP failure.

I remember when I bought my Becker that it was mentioned online more than once that these units can be picky about cables and some only play nicely using the correct Becker-supplier cable (the red one)

It is true that not all Mini-USB cables will work, and the Becker-supplied cable is indeed a safe bet, but just to say that being in IT, I always have a selection of cables around, and managed to get my BMP connected to my PC using a variety of non-Becker cables (like others, I never got the original one).

IIRC it seems to be a bit hit and miss and in a lot of cases probably was a case of not using a data cable as you suggest.

Not sure if you managed to fix this? I had the same (ish) issue. I have a BMP (model: M054) already installed in my 2015 car, took it out to update the software (3.0.18) using the BMP Content Manager Software and it turned into a brick! Completely unresponsive.

Bought a new data cable for the mini usb, bought a new battery, reset and reinstalled my pc drivers, tried it on Windows 7 and 10 - no luck! Didn't want to go directly to Becker (as I has seen they are not the most helpful and it can take months), didn't want to buy a new unit, and also didn't want to buy a used one off eBay in case I had the same problem!

Found a company in the UK who claimed to repair the BMP. I was sceptical, but got it in writing that if they couldn't repair it they would send me the unit back and refund me. So I sent it on Tuesday this week, it arrived with them Wednesday and I had it back on Thursday - works a dream, and has all the new maps for Europe etc.

Irritating it went wrong (apparently the new software is too big for the unit, overwrites itself and gets corrupted?!), but I'm so happy it is now fixed and working. The company is Revtronic based in W. Yorkshire - cost me £120 but cheaper than the other alternatives! Also comes with 12 months warranty on the work.

Thanks for the info Sebz, will definately look into this company, my BMP is i believe an older version from a 2012 car, i have no idea how long it hasnt worked for, but like you, have tried new cable, battery, resetting and different pc's and laptops, its as dead as a dodo. £120 sounds pretty good value compared to the unknown on buying from ebay.

Just to update, i used Revtronic, sent off, repaired, sent back and in car in under 2 days. Works a treat, great service. Thanks for the recommendation
