Before you drive into London...

Mine is currently OK but when the ULEZ comes into effect my car will be too old as its an age+Euro4 thing.

So whats going to be gained by making me pay £12.50 per day. I will have to go out to the M25 to avoid the ULEZ, incur at least another £5 worth of fuel(still less than the ULEZ Fee) and add more contaminants to the atmosphere due to the additional mileage.

Can someone remind me how this will help pollution?

Sadiq Khan was interviewed on Radio 4 this morning regarding the new measure.

He 'read from script' all of the relevant bits of information regarding the new T-Charge, but was unable to answer any questions.... for example when asked what impact the new measures will have on air quality, he replied 'big impact'... the interview as a whole was very odd.

When asked what he intends to do about pollution from open fire stoves, he first laughed it off and then mumbled something about possibly giving advice to the public regardibg which days these can be used.

Now I can understand that the Mayor might not have to hand all the facts and figures about pollution and air quality in London, but if so why go on radio? I have listened to him speak and I am none the wiser.

I'm surprised he was on the radio - I thought his sole purpose was to create photo opportunities.

I suppose he is a typical politician but there is something about him that rubs me up the wrong way with every interview he does, can't put my finger on it though.

If they wanted to improve air quality they should have just banned these types of vehicles instead of raising money off them. Theoretically if you are prepared to pay you can put as much muck as you like into the atmosphere.

It's like the plastic bag charge, pointless. If everyone paid for a plastic bag nothing would improve. Just ban them and make shops use paper bags instead.....like we used to a few decades ago.

If raising money could help the enviroment there wouldn't be any problems!

I wasn't aware T-Charge was on, but noticed that traffic was quite light for Monday morning. Air in London is very bad anything that makes it better is a good thing.

People who can't afford a new car don't drive into central London anyway, because it is expensive from every angle. I just hope that this will incensivise businesses to upgrade their y-reg transit vans, which London is full of besides taxis and buses.

It's quiet because it's half term.

Bob and I know why our cars are both exempt.
I wonder how long this 'oversight' will take to surface ..?

Actually mine's not on a 52 plate ... it used to be.
What a simple workaround, not that I drive into the centre when it's congested.

And so is mine, a 52 plate OM613.

But not the S123. As is my diesel 107...which is a real shame as I was so looking fwd to buzzing round the City with the roof down and a case of Dom Perignon 2006 on the back seat.

NOT!

.

Well Just checked the 2002 e55k and its subject to the charge, Whoopie...
Strange i think the plate has something to do with it as it just comes up Black / car and the reg number. This was definitely not the case last wk

https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/emissions-surcharge/compliance-checker

And now, when i enter a friends 2004 (04) w211 e320 cdi it says it's exempt from the charge?

But a (53) reg 2003 w211 e320 cdi is not exempt

My Wifes 2004 a140 is also Subject to the charge ??? confused.com

My S202 OM605 is the same, with it's original VRN.

The S123 will be tax and t charge exempt by the time it's put back on the road.

Just a Update, I rang TFL 1st chap couldnt help said it was strange half the details of the car only came up, so he put me through to another person.

She said the car is now subject to the charge even though last week it wasn't. This was down to a SYSTEM upgrade they performed.

What a load of cobblers :/

Apparently the worst air quality in London is around Oxford Street... which is restricted during daytime to buses and black cabs only... both of which are exempt from the new charge. Great.

It looks like it, If you read the small print it says all vehicles maybe subject to charge if its brought attention too, I think whats happen when my Private plate went on they saw it was fitted to the 55k, saw the Co output and then applied the new charge,

If i put the cars Original reg number in it states NO charge for this vehicle. I really cant be a** to argue the t*** i've got to much stress going on atm. It stupid really because a GL420 cdi v8 is not subject to it.

It doesn't even have my private plate listed.... when I put in my old plate shows as no charge?

Can't be ****ed either I never go into London anyway

Hi,
My CLS 55 55 Plate 806 Model with private plate is exempt, my Audi A4 Cabriolet 3.0TDi Quattro is also exempt.
To say the CLS being exempt this charge is an under statement.
