OK friend of mine is wanting to upgrade their very basic Dell speakers but not wishing to spend a fortune. [ so forget the bose companion II 's] After a quick look round I suggested the excellent LOGITEK X140s at around £15 Logitech X-140 Multimedia Speakers (2.0): Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories or the Creative Inspire T10s at about £30 Creative Inspire T10 Multimedia Speakers: Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories. Has to be a simple twin system as subwoofers are out due to lack of space.:wallbash: Are they wasting their time/money or can anyone else come up with a similar priced pair that would do better. :dk:

Before I opened the thread I was going to recommend Logitech, you can't go wrong with Logitech, I've got their top end Z5500 5.1 system, but have previously had a 2.1 system that was just as flawless.

Depends what they mean by a fortune, audio is sadly overlooked far too many times. If they intend listen to music for any length of time, I would seriously push to get -

Scan.co.uk: Creative Labs 2.0 Speakers 14 W Sound System - 51MF1610AA003 £55 quid isnt bank breaking for something you can appreciate every day.

My brother got the T20 v1 (same speaker, the new one has tweaked styling and the knobs are nice grippy metal ones now) and they sound brilliant.

I had a creative 4-1 system bundled with an advent pc a number of years ago. Number 1 son is now using that set up on his current pc.
Quite impresive for a bundled system. Sub under the desk and 4 small cube satelite speakers.

Sounds like the cream Cambridge Soundworks system, I have these in the shed proper nice (got mine with a Time PC before I saw the light and built myself a real PC).

Yep - they are the ones

Completely agree, the Z5500 is really first class. I'd recommend anything by Logitech.

The X-240 even has an i-pod cradle; have a look at the 2.1 Logitechs on the this link:

Ebuyer.com

Ebuyer were efficient with my last order and they are very competitive on price.

Thanks to everyone who has replied so far. Consensus seems to favour Logitech at the moment so that's probably the direction to go.
