Best convertible for £10k or less

Now this is interesting as the 9-3 we have works for us.
I dont fancy spending 9/10 k on last of the 9-3's as not enough of an upgrade from the prefacelift 06 one we have now.

But the clk news is interesting...

You will need to sit in them, or have one of your off spring sit in them though

The rears are a little more snug as they are deeper and you get both the more defined division and the bigger tunnel (and slightly higher window line) but seats the same size and leg room is as good

It still not fab if the driver is 6 foot, but I'm only 5'8", so there's acres behind me :D

Some nice 200k or even 280s out there but with spring on the way prices aren't going to drop.....

If you get a CLK do yourself a favour and opt for 350 or above. They are a heavy car and 200 and 280 are lethargic really in comparison. Make sure it's AMG sport spec.

Had a 350 new with every option ticked and it was a stunning car. £60k nearly it was so if these are now £10k it's a bargain!

Agreed

The 280 with the AMG exhausts sounds lovely on tick over, but you do have to be north of 4k rpm to see it really move (I do sometimes miss the noobed turbo on the Saab from 2k)

The 350 would now be my choice, but I'm not unhappy with the 280, we rarely get the chance to open 'em up these days anyway.....:o

Go Sport, get toys and a V6 - but be quick, summer's coming.....

Am on it chaps.
Dragging drugged-up self out of post-op bed to view one locally. Ironically it has a two tone interior which madam wants.
Watch this space.

Still like the a4 mind you !!!

CLK added to the possibles list.
Although the one we viewed was possibly one of the worst prepared forecourt cars I have ever seen.....

Viewing a c70 today as a rule-out exercise unless the boot isn't quite as ludicrous as it appears!!!

I liked the C70 a lot, but the boot is only beaten in ludicrosity (?) by the Lexus IS convertible, which although a large boot when the roof is up is totally absurd when down!

Probably a stupid thing to suggest, but the Peugeot 308CC was a surprisingly nice 4 seat convertible that my wife nearly bought... :)

Agreed about the Lexus. May have made its way onto the list anyway were it not for the dreadful engine choice.
Peugeot not really a "premium" car imho but ty.

Well, that didn't go according to plan............
we both quite liked the ovlov.....

Didn't bother going to look at one this time round cos for our budget the E Class does much better mpg (allegedly).
Have had a couple of them (S80 D5 & C30 DRIVe) in recent years and they ticked our boxes at the time.

Sadly Piff with buying the Range Rover the E class is a bit out of reach budget wise.
Been looking at mapping the ovlovs, can get decent torque from the d5 safely it seems which of course for an auto is vital...
They're quirky. But then so am I !

I'll be really interested in your final decision - currently in precisely the same situation with my wife's Saab 9-3 aero auto convertible!

Having not recently splashed out on a Range Rover I've got a slightly higher budget (and she wants FWD or AWD) - I confess I hadn't even thought of Volvo

Had a hefty bill with our S80 - it was an ex Volvo company car and had most options. Full Volvo service history but just out of warranty. Had a dashboard warning saying the "on call" function wasn't working. Turned out to be the phone module. Initially they wanted over £1900 to replace the module. They agreed to half that when I appealed to their better nature.
So, make sure all the bits work on yours before purchase.

Well......that's two vehicles sorted and one to go. 4x4 = L322 Range Rover. Convertible = this :-

45k miles, historied, not perfect by any stretch of the imagine, but Mrs JB loves the colour, which is not exactly common so a hard deal was done, and she's just brought us 200 miles home.

Better pics to follow.
