Guys need a bit advice on tracker systems. I ordered my C63 but my insurance company has informed me that it needs to have a tracker system fitted. However I've noticed in another thread that even some gps systems can be overcome. They have only stated 'a tracker system' thay have not specified any perticular manufacturer

Dappa,

I have had trackers on a number of my cars and have used a few different models. I have also have two cars stolen and recovered due due to trackers.

If you are concerned about getting your car back (sounds silly but some wouldn't) and are worried about gps you can go for a duel system such as tracker locate that uses both gps and radio signals.

Had them on mine for the same reason insurance company insisted. They are all useless and can be detected and removed in minutes. For something as high end as a c63 it would be a sophisticated theft, so i would just go for the cheapest tracker system available. If it was stolen would you want it back anyway :dk:

We do ScorpionTrack which allows you to see where your car is in real time or we do Tracker Monitor. Scorpion Track has the lowest subscription but higher initial cost. Whereas Tracker Monitor can be installed for around £200 inc.

Dappa, pretty much everyone i looked at for insurance wanted a tracker. On my previous car, it cost me £500 to fit and I think £140 a year.

So this time, on the basis i would have the car three years, i assumed that for all the shag and hassle the tracker costs me £300 a year. So i just looked for an insurer who didn't want it, and was prepared to pay more. Not only do L&V not require a tracker, they were £350 cheaper than my privilege insurance.

Give them a try.

As someone else said. To steal one of these, its a sophisticated theft and not a Joy rider, so your prob not gonna see our car again anyway.
