Can anyone please recommend an independent MB specialist in the Birmingham/Solihull area?

Also, anyone know of a reliable MB dealer (for warranty work) in the surrounding area? I'm not naming any names, but I'm not too impressed by the local ones.

Thanks.

Lanes of Lichfield near Sutton Coldfield - not had any work done by them though, as the two conersations I've had with them didn't fill me with confidence, so I can't vouch for the quality of their work.

I'd be interested which dealers you've used - even if only by PM (Private Message).

I don't think there's any harm mentioning the dealers you'e used as long as you phrase it in the right way, and avoid slating them in an un-just way.

I'll name names for you then.

If its Mercedes Benz of Solihull, I'm not surprised. An "old school" garage, i.e. appear to be under 60 years old and you'll get treated with nothing but contempt.

Took a test drive there years ago of an E Class and was told by the salesman to keep an eye on the website or phone to check cars in stock - basically they couldn't be bothered.

Servicing was painful there, too.

WDM cars in perry barr, opposite the dog track.

good, reliable service, MB computer etc.
decent wairing room with kettle etc.

my wife, my dad and I all use them, and have done for a few years.

Ditto....very nice guy Paul...know what theyre doing...been to them a couple of times.

Not sure if it is too far for you, but MB Stoke are excellent.

Theres a very large Mercedes Benz service centre in Cranmore on the business estate. This is a 5-10 minute drive from solihull and seems to be very good. Opened a year or two ago. I have always fround them to be very good.

Mercedes Benz solihull on the warwick road annoy me. I went in once to ask about parts and they basically told me to go away. Fair enough at 21 im not your usual merc customer but the fact was i had pulled up in my dads CLK320 and had the keys in my hand so that should have suggested i wasnt a time waster.

Did you find an Indie in the end?

prospect solihull, thats where i brought my car from also got a garage that do purely mercs, looked after my car and moms and bros mercs too.

Lanes wouldn't be my first choice but Andy Gayle gets decent reports and I would use Sterling or Worcester.

For warranty work I use Worcester - the service mgr is ex-Honda and understands service and quality - and rings you back!

There is also a willingness to move on labour price when a number of jobs are done together.

Solihull and Stratford I used once and will not again.

Not used an indie yet as the brakes and filters I do myself having bought the parts from the dealer and kept the receipts.

This is a bit further East, but I've used Mercland once in Nuneaton and found the service to be good and the prices reasonable.

I recommend WDM. I have used them since 2002, have bought 2 cars off them and have carried on using them, even though I do not live in Birmingham any more. I've tried other more convenient local (to me) speciallists, and always end up not satisfied and returning to WDM. They are happy to work on any car over 3 years old.
