I am thinking of getting a Bluetooth adapter/transmitter to connect to the RCA input sockets located in the glovebox, then I could select aux in command and play music from my phone.
Has anyone done this on older cars, which one would you recommend or is there a better way to stream music.
My car is a CL500 w216 2008

Yes, I did that in my last W211 but its not very satisfactory. I just used a 3.5mm jack plug cable to phone to get music to play from the phone through the speakers. But the content still has to be controlled by the phone, not Comand, and the volume is disappointingly low.

Comandonline probably have a better solution for streaming music and controlled by Comand. Its worth a call to find out.

I did consider plugging in the phone direct, but as you say the volume is a issue as you have to max it, as it is restricted as earphones are the normal output, I see the advantage of an adaptor is no volume issues or cables trailing as it is connected by Bluetooth. I would like to use a spotify play list on shuffle so would not really need to control the content, apart from just start it playing.
I'm not sure if me having the phone already connected by Bluetooth to the comand mb phone system would cause any problems.
