Is there a cover that goes under the bonnet to help reduce noise, had it on other cars but not sure if its just missing or did not come with a cover, for clarity it attaches to the under side of the bonnet and usually some sort of material?

Yes there should be one. Depending on the age of the car MB will have one, if not it will have been reproduced. Stick it down well but it should fit well into the guides.

I know this is a bit late but finally did mine on a 1999 SL500. Pad and glue and 2 clips came to £177, not much more than a patent part. I decided to go with the glue form Mercedes rather than spray on glue as have read that the spray glue doesn't last that long.
Scraping the old destroyed mat took ages, putting the new one on took less than an hour on my own. Now to get on with the seat bolster!

The old insulation on mine was in bits when I bought it and every time I looked in the engine bay i saw another piece had fallen off.

I changed it about 10 years ago, it still looks as good as new, price back then was £77 :-) I did make the mistake of putting it the wrong way around :wallbash: but only I know (and now you)

Changed mine on an E500. £88 From MB Ayr. No sticky, just plastic plugs like most interior trim parts.
