boost sensor o ring

the new boost sensor i bought from mercedes never had an O ring when the old one was taken out the o ring was broke. just been and bought a big box of O rings any one know what the correct size is to put on cannot use old one for comparison as it was all broken up.
 
Cant you measure the parts the O ring fits onto :

Inside dia : the part on the boost sensor the ring sits into.

Outside dia : the part the boost sensor fits into.

Width : the size of the groove on the sensor the ring fits into.

short answer no. the big box of O rings has 125 different sizes i tried one on old sensor that fits snuggly in the recess,is that the one i need???
 
Use a size that seals the base of the sensor , and also fits in the recess on the engine if there is one.

i have looked there is not one that does that, but i can put one on base and the smaller one fits in groove do you think that is ok, that is where i am getting malfunction from i think.

Was the original not a copper type washer or was it also rubber ?

the old one i found in engine bay just had a broken rubber in the groove,when i got the new one from mereceds it had nothing no rubber or copper washer, so just put a copper washer on it.i am about to remove it if and when it stops raining and put rubber O ring in groove.
 
Doesn`t look like that part number is shaped for an O ring , normally a perfect semi-circle groove is required.


FWIW , if it is going onto any part of the exhaust a copper or alloy seal is required , due to the heat.

What does the MB parts list say ?

where do i find that, i know it needs an O ring and intend putting a copper seal on where it touches engine block.

Looks like a square section seal , according to this site. If you look at the parts diagram (image 8) it looks like a separate part - number 140.


This should be available from the dealers.

A0071530328 is the exhaust back pressure sensor . It sits on a thin metal washer . Check to see that its not sitting in the slot as they can seat themselves.

Either that or you let it fall into the hole when removing the sensor.

yep the back pressure sensor has a metal crush seal the washer wont go into the hole it screws into (larger dimension) a rubber oring is useless it has to be the metal crush seal.

check with merc spares they will give you the latest replacement number

thanks for all the info, but now going down the route of getting shut of dpf and having it remapped.
