Hi guys, just had the pleasure of a burst brake pipe .

Facelift S204 C250 CDI

Would it be copper or steel pipes ?

Pretty sure at steel.

Kunifer brake pipe 90/10 cupro nickel

New to me , is it just Mercedes , or just I've no experience of brake pipe renewal on a modern car ?

It will never be copper... and pure copper should never be used.... dangerous and illegal in many countries. Kunifer/copper,nickel alloy.

Are you intending making and fitting the replacement pipe? If so, avoid steel as it is a bitch to flare.

Odd place for a pipe to split , The whole length of pipes are hidden by the undertrays. Pretty sure there is a join in this area. I recently had the trays off my 152K 17 year old C class and the brake pipes covered by them look almost brand new , not so much the ones exposed to the road salt etc. :(

Yes having a look a look at a diagram suggests a join .

It's normal to piece it from the caliper back to the joint. Even if there isn't a joint , one would be put in.
