Mercedes C200 stunning condition Rare Red 1999
Just been on short journey and notice on dash 2 yellow warning lights lit BAS and ABS is this likely to have me pulling out the small amount of remaining hair i have ? . Considering car is 1999 c200 i could well do without major expense .

Brake light switch , £12 , fit it yourself in 5 seconds , take your VIN to the dealer to order one.

Does that mean also my brake lights will not be working ? Sure i have read of several problems caused by this same brake switch part .And it sounds like if this is indeed the problem ordering 2 may be prudent.

They wear out about every ten years lol , so just get one.

Brake lights will be working fine.

I did wonder wether something had shaken loose .Almost certain lights appeared after going over sleeping policemen - Got to my destination and half expected when i turned ignition on again to return home lights may not show but alas they were still lit .

Jeez went out today and when putting selector in reverse car just revved had to push stick slightly forward to get to engage later i dont think car was getting past 2nd or 3rd gear as though def a problem with gearbox - Not antything connected with abs and BAS light being lit on dash ??? seems as if i have a problem every time i use car.

Changed brake light switch after almost an eternity - Easter hols and Merc supplying wrong switch . From instructions it sounded like a fairly simple job but i must presume theat is related to later models because it was quirky at best the main problem is bonnet release pull built into the panel that needs removing to access brake switch - no free play in cable allowing panel to be lowered - Anyway changed brake switch and lights are still lit (ABS BAS) thought i had heard about turning wheel lock to lock several times could reset lights but that also didnt remove lights . Thought brake switch could also have had something to do with auto box not changing up from 3-4 went out with mechanic and gears changed up 1-2-3-4 no problem ,only a mile down road and on return journey car changed 1-2-3 but kept on accelrating and did not change to 4 so let off throttle expecting it to slot into 4 and NO so it appears def prob with box.
