Brand new 190 EVO II

I reckon the seller has pitched it absolutely right - start high and make me an offer - the person who buys this is obviously going to be wealthy and numbers like this are change-in-the-pocket to many.

So for a collector who wants to line it up as an ornament with his other motorsport Mercs it's a bargain, likewise if he wants to drive it I'm sure immediate halving of value won't break a sweat :)

Let's be honest, if it was listed at £30k we'd all be on the phone!

Just saw this over on the other thread.

As Darren says, I'm sure that there was one for sale in the Channel Isles for about half this much a while back (new/unused).

This car is as good as you're ever going to find. They were £50k+ new IIRC and immediately sold out (they only produced 502). A true collectors piece and obviously worth a lot of money, but perhaps not £100k - it's the most expensive 190E I've ever seen.

If registered, it'd probably go onto a current '10' plate, and you'd be into the expensive tax bracket too. There's a 'P' plated Evo-II in the UK (obviously registered in 96/97).

If I had the means then I would happily buy that after a detailed examination by an experienced EVO2 man.

If it was stored correctly there is no reason why it would be in particularly bad shape.

It gives those who didn't have the oppertunity to own one brand new a chance to do that right now.

As for the value, it's completely dependant on the worth of the car, not what other cars are going for. If it is worth 100K to someone then fair enough, I hope they enjoy a remarkable toy.

Dave!

Just posted the link on M5Board.com and indeed one of the guys there confirmed that the guy selling it, is the one that did the group buy of two e30 M3 Evo's, the 190 Evo and the RS200 all with two digit mileage, unregistered. God knows what he ll be asking for the others soon.

Nope - it's based on the registration date:

The cost of vehicle tax : Directgov - Motoring

Yep - a friend with a recently imported car (used) had to pay the ~ £400 PA road tax even though the car was manufactured in 1999. This was a used car (Japanese import) and was assigned the correct 'T' registration mark, but the 'date of first registration' was something like 2008, and hence was under the new tax brackets.

i made the offer, thought it best to get in first... declined off the bat, seems like he wants close to the asking price.

Maybe I'm being a bit snotty here but do people with £100k to spend on this type of car shop on ebay?

Yes, some do. It makes a pretty effective shop window, and there are many items listed with multi-million pound asking prices.

I wonder if this is the car that was purchased at the same time with two brand new unregistered M3 E30 Evo's and an RS200. There was a thread on this a while back with the link to another forum.

Yup pretty sure thats the one.

Even if I had the means just to buy the car I wouldn't want to put it into storage. What is the point in having a car and treating it like a piece of art. Yes they are good to look at but the driving experience is part of the 'art' of the vehicle. But to experience them as an art installation decreases their value? You could buy a selection of cars with the money and have a great experience driving and maintaining them.

He won't get it.

it depends on how long he waits, and if he doesnt 'need' to sell, he can wait a long time, most of us hear would like to buy it, it just need that someone somewhare that both wants to buy, and has the cash... now where is my lottery ticket?

This guy is the one who owns the infamous 'Bonkers' collection of old/rare/mint Fords that includes Princess Diana's old black Series one RS turbo....

He also owns one of those big Car trading centre's in Swansea, so I assume he is not short of a few bob..... Probably a case of the 190E not interesting him as much as his other cars.....

He`s got this on the other auction 1974 TRIUMPH SPITFIRE 6912 MILES FROM NEW, 1 OWNER on eBay (end time 23-Jun-10 22:42:38 BST)

£100k get you a lot of stuff/car I think it's a bit steep myself, but if he can get the asking price.............. good luck to him.
