Brand New 35-Year-Old Vehicle ?

If I had the money, I would buy it and put it away for another 33 years.
Be worth a fortune by then:rock:

I think its worth a fortune by now
I thought my mates T25 was clean with only 66000miles on the clock, old vw vans

Marvellous :) When I was growing up, we had a T2 camper, like this Viking but in green and white. Loved sitting up front in it

Bluddy hell that looks nice. Never knew they were called the T2... Reminds me when things like that were new and cutting edge.

But why? If you are buying it as new it doesn't add up; it is a van, it is slow, it hasn't got modern performance, it hasn't got modern comfort, it hasn't got modern safety - they were unpleasant in a crash from one I remember seeing.
It is also only a van, not a Camper, if you convert it, it will no longer be original. I just cannot see the point, other than ooh-ah. Vee Dub were talking about a modern retro version but nothing seemed to come of it, which is a pity. But everyone to his tatse.

Ba Humbug, it's new and very shiny :p  ;)

Howver, I used to have a Type 3 Estate, a long time ago - just about indestructible and would chug along all day at around 80 - it might still have been legal. The chug, chug sound was great.

One has to say it's a fine example.

I would have thought VW would want that van as a showpiece.

Why sell it in the UK when it's LHD, or does the seller think we are going to spend more money buying it?

Would I swap it for our Sprinter 213CDI? No way ho zey.

John

I very much dooubt he'd offer you the swap!;)

He must be after £25k+ for it

If I had it i'd only get it sign written to promote our business :D It would be worth it for advertising alone I think but I like my Transit T230 Connect with it's air-con, mp3 player and full electrics. Too used to the creature comforts now.

Surprises me that VW didn't buy it for their museum ... unless they already have one ?
