Brand New W124 saloon bodyshell

Why oh why would you store it outside, even if recently? If you want £1500 for it, surely you would find the room to keep it covered somehow!

The two SEC shells I bought had been left outside, I collected 4 dustbin liners full of leaves out of them...cleaned them up and they are fine without any corrosion whatsoever, it does make you wonder though...

£1500 is a bargain for that. I sold my other shell for nearly £3500

Are all the basic W124 saloon shells the same or do the engine compartments differ depending upon which engine in destined for placement?

Actually, Mcfall salvage is who I bought my shells from....I just had a double take.

Think they are all the same except for the V8 engined ones which started off original and were then "fettled" on the 500E's by Porsche at at their ZUFFENHAUSEN facility. So if anyone's thinking of a V8 project some mods would be required. ;)

Aren't you still selling a shell Mudster?

Yup, last item remaining, everything else sold, including the engine which I shipped to Louisiana.

I have the money sat in a bank account burning a hole......however with all the nonsense going on at the moment I'm inclined to keep it there as an extra safety net as I really don't "need" another car at all.

They're so far away from being real cars though, and you end up with a Q plate...

Id buy a 124 breaker and an early r129 500sl. Re-shell the 124 with the 129 running gear. I know it would be a hell of a lot of work, but the amount of satisfaction would make it worth while.

I looked into this in quite some depth and found re-shelling a specific donor car would be quite legitimate and would keep the original identity.

Some of the racing teams used to leave 3 door sierra shells outside for up to a year to go rusty, once cleaned off they had lost quite a bit of weight and panel thickness, ideal for touring cars as it lowers the CoG.
