1. A682 (M65 J13 - Long Preston)

2. A54 (Congleton - Buxton)

3. A683 (M6 J34 - Kirkby Lonsdale)

4. A62 (Diggle - Huddersfield)

5. A671 (Burnley - Whalley)

6. A653 (Dewsbury - M62 J28)

7. A1079 (Market Weighton - Kingston upon Hull)

8. A53 (Leek - Buxton)

9. A726 (M77 J3 - Paisley)

10. A46 (Market Rasen - Grimsby)

11. A644 (Dewsbury - M62 J25)

12. A617 (A614 - Newark-on-Trent)

13. A5 (Daventry - Rugby)

14. A533 (A49 - A56)

15. A166 (York - Driffield)

16. A631 (Gainsborough - A1103)

17. A85 (Crianlarich - Perth)

I think the reason none of the roads in the south are in this list is because its so congested down here that the average speed is never high enough for there to be that many fatalities!

OK you southerners, all together - "Eee it's grim oop North..........................." :D

You're probably right about the congestion aspect in the South. Strange though.

The A289 from Wainscott to Grain in Kent is very bad.
I'm surprised it is not on the list.
Every week without fail, there is either a dead biker, a bad car smash or an overturned lorry.
The grass verges are covered in flowers and crosses.

A82 between Tarbet and Crialarich always scares me.
Beautiful road, but too narrow.

sssshhhhh - we all know that speed has no bearing on accidents and doesn't cause fatalities

I haven't driven on all the roads in the list but I have on a number of them. Most of them are two lane single carriageway roads with few safe overtaking opportunities.

I very much doubt that speed in excess of the speed limit is a factor in many of the accidents. Most will be caused by overtaking in inappropriate places.

Where speed can be a factor is that a queue forms and drivers futher down the queue become frustrated because (rightly or wrongly) they think the drivers at the head of queue are driving too slowly for the conditions. Some of these frustrated drivers then make stupid (and sometimes fatal) mistakes.

surprised the A537 is not there.(buxton-macclesfield) cat and fiddle pass fame. best road to drive on in my opinion if you have a great handling car or a bike, as the road flows like the TT course. unforgiving bends

:D :D Statistics, statistics.
I would love to see how they reach these decisions and what qualifies as a 'dangerous' road. I would guess that most roundabouts are where the largest number of incidents occur, but thankfully we all have very sturdy vehicles which reduce the number of serious injuries\fatilities, but surely if theyhave the greatest number of collisions, then they should be the most dangerous?

Regards
John

Edit:
Could it be that we are talking more about the worse drivers?  :D
