C180 Cylinder Head

Hi,
My friends C180 (03 reg) is in for Engine repair and the garage says they are waiting for a "Modified cyliner Head" Is this correct or are they just using this an an excuse to delay? !!!

If it blew a head gasket it may have warped and is off to a machine shop to to be planned flat?
