Hi

I have narrowed down my search for a new Mercedes to the new C Class.
I need some advice regarding the C200 Petrol Sport and the C200 Petrol Sport Amg.

Both are nice and equivalent spec I believe, but any opinions on which to pick are much appreciated. Do people always go for the Amg upgrade or do some people prefer the Sport.

Thanks

Am I wrong in thinking what you've mentioned are the same AMG (sport) - slightly quicker with exterior styling package, and the slower/basic equivalent of that is just an SE?

I believe the spec between Sport and Amg Sport are the same, so same engine and equipment levels etc. But the styling is different for the Amg, and 18 inch wheels while the Sport has 17 inch wheels.
I guess what I would like to know are opinions on what others might choose when the two specs are so similar.

Also I should have mentioned I am selecting the 7 speed automatic gearbox for both versions.

You're talking of the 205 I take it, I initially thought the 204

Not sure if there's a difference with that shape, me personally if it looks better, and is slightly quicker then it seems like a winner. Unless the less desirable one is packed with tasty extras

AMG Line looks better IMHO. The two are purely trim lines so no difference performance wise (actually the AMG Line might be a tad slower due to bigger wheels :)).

The same packages (Premium/Premium Plus) and options are available on both so choosing which model it comes down to personal taste, really.

The W/S205 needs to be in AMG line to look good in my opinion. The Sport looks like an SE. I would also really recommend you push the boat out a bit more and pick the Premium or preferably the Premium Plus back. Makes a big difference.

I'm sure the AMG would come with different suspension settings, more on the stiffer side? Worth checking in case you prefer the softer ride.

I would suggest you go for an estate as they look better, also petrol is favorite with the diesel scandal. I could not wait the six months for a petrol so went for the 220d. I went for the premium plus, with airmatic black ash trim (the shiny black shows all the finger prints, well worth the extra £150 ish and you get a nice analogue clock.
Here is a little video of mine at the dealers.

Lots to consider, thank you for all the replies.

AMG Line does have Sport suspension whereas Sport has Comfort suspension...go figure. My AMG Line has a magic carpet ride in my opinion but handles tidily when it needs to. I also think the estate looks better
