Hi Everyone.
I have a really weird electrical issue made worse by the fact that it's intermittent. Every now and again whilst driving (Any speed, any road conditions), the engine dies just for a second and then springs back to life. When this happens some dash lights also illuminate for a second. I can't tell which warning lights because it happens so quickly. The fault is not dependent on speed, road surface or which way the wheels are facing. I think the easiest way to explain it is that it's just like you reached down and turned the ignition off and then back on again. Other than this fault the car runs perfectly.

To be more specific about the car, It's a 2006 C200 CDi SE Sport Coupe Diesel (2148) automatic.

Has anyone come across this before? I would be extremely grateful if someone could at the very least point me in the right direction.

Thanks in anticipation that someone far more clever than I am can offer a cause and hopeful solution.

PJ.

Fault codes first. I’ve seen this before and it was a bad injector. I wouldn’t do anything without a code read first though

Thanks Jobsworth.
I agree that the car needs to be diagnosed for codes, first things first. That said I would have thought that an intermittent fault with an injector would not produce this symptom? I know it's very difficult to diagnose a problem from a written description but this definitely feels like an loss of electrical power. I will admit to being an old school mechanic. I hail from the good old days when I was slotting an Essex V6 into my MK1 Cortina!

However I have to bow to your more modern approach to these matters so I'll arrange to get the codes read. Hopefully I can post a code (Or more) that may point to this issue. Thanks again for your response.
PJ.

Unlike most modern common rail diesel cars unplugging one injector will stop the engine on a Mercedes. A point of pedantry though, read the codes first

Thank you. I wonder if I can slot a V6 Essex engine in to my car? I know that engine back to front and inside out. Those were the good days! :)
